I saw this in the movies and really enjoyed it. Matt Damon puts on one of his best acting performances. He plays a NASA botanist stranded on the Red Planet Mars after a sandstorm forces his crew mates to abort their mission. He has to rely on his own intelligent and training along with some of the best minds on Earth working overtime to bring him home (an epic that is a homage to science and engineer nerds out there). Both suspenseful, smart and funny, this movie was one of the best movies of 2015 and a must own for your Blu-ray collection.

The package arrived a little bit ahead of schedule and was in perfect condition. However, I would not advise using the gift wrap option. I'm not sure how these packages usually arrive, but it looked like any other product box stamped with the best buy logo rather than, well, a gift. This is severe nitpicking, but if you want wrapping paper or for your gift message to be on the outside then you're going to have to do it yourself anyway. Efficient for the workers at least and great service otherwise.

The Martian is a really great movie. This film has wonderful acting. Matt Damon gives a very emotional performance, you really get a sense of his pain and loneliness and frustration with his experiences on a deserted desolate planet years away from the nearest human being. The 3D is great. Their aren't really any scenes where items pop out of the screen and fly toward you but there are a great many scenes where you get a better sense of the scope of the planet and distance. Well worth purchasing the 3D edition. I highly recommend this movie.

Ridley Scott has done some of his best work when he directs science fiction (Alien, Blade Runner) and The Martian is no exception. Based upon the popular novel of the same name, Scott has assembled a first rate cast of actors working at the top of their game. So too Scott's technical team delivers first rate effects throughout.. ***SPOILER ALERT*** Sean Bean's character is the true hero of the story. ***** The image quality looks great in HD on Blu-ray and the audio is just as good. Pop some corn and turn up the sub-woofer for a fun ride.

I read this book and as I was about half way through, I saw a commercial for the movie. Had no idea they were even filming it. It's pretty faithful to the book. They left out the rover in the dust storm and how bad that became but hey, if they included everything, the movie would be days long. Not 100% faithful but some of the omissions and modifications are forgivable. It's over two hours long and it's fast paced. Filled with set backs and triumphs this one will keep you entertained. I'll definitely be watching this one over again.

Giving as a Christmas gift, but have seen if before.

For a thorough synopsis of the movie plot. etc., head out to IMDB. If you like this movie, the extended edition adds over 10 minutes of material. Some of the material is only seconds long, but, for example, make conversations more clear, and work to round out the overall experience. The UHD version is clear, and can bring a theatre experience into your home.

To cut it short this is pretty much Apollo 13 on mars.Not in a copycat way by any means but in terms of the amount adventure, thrills suspense and humor that are at play. It is perfectly written and perfectly acted (Matt Damon owned this one) while it is all being captured by Ridley Scott's masterful vision & directing leaves absolutely no room for any dull moments through out the entire 2+ hours of this enthralling experience. I liked The Revenant a lot however in my opinion this was hands down the best film of 2015.

Another great space movie to watch in 4K, honestly I went on Reddit to see what the forum recommends to watch on your LG OLED C8. So I ended getting this movie and to be honest it was well worth getting. It's a great movie with a plot and on top of that the picture is sharp making it feel as if you are in the movie. 4K is the pretty awesome, I did it for the experience. So all depends what your in to.

This is a great imaginative film about what it might be like for an astronaut to be stranded on Mars. However, it will probably be several years before we really know how realistic it was. But in the meantime, it's a great performance by Matt Damon. And, it's a stunning experience in 4K! It's like watching the action through a window...you are tempted to reach through the window and touch him or the Rover or the solar panels or his potato plants! It's as close as we can get to being in the film while it was shooting!

love this movie. It is one of the best. I do recommend it.

First of all...go read the book. Like, right now. Martin Weir crafted an amazing story full of humor, suspense, and most of all, science. With that aside, this movie is an amazing adaptation of the novel. There are a couple of scenes that are a little rushed, and a good portion of the second act of the book was cut from the movie (for time, presumably). But that doesn't detract from how well Ridley Scott handled this movie. If there's anything we've learned from the Alien movies, it's that Ridley KNOWS space! A MUST-watch!

This was great movie with great performances throughout

The name of the review is a quote from the movie, and the movie it totally enjoyable!!! My family saw it in the theaters, and we introduced a friend to the movie this weekend. He did not see it, thinking it was going to be a slow story and bore him. Even being over 2 hours long, he loved it, as did we for the second time! There is action, there is drama, there is emotion, and it is a great story to make teens to elderly enjoy it! So see this movie about Earth trying to settle on Mars, and have a very enjoyable evening!!!

This is a truly great movie. Any time it is on, I get sucked in. Every cast member is on point. In a real world that keeps proving that we can't seem to help but continue to get in our own way, there is a message of hope here that really hits home. Very few actors can hold the screen acting by themselves, but Damon is so insanely compelling and likable here that I can't imagine anyone else in the role. Extra shout out to Donald Glover in a small but scene-stealing turn that has made me a fan for life.

I do not know how we watched movies before 4K, and while there are several where HD really does not make a difference, this is one that deserves the treatment. The experience is even better than it was in the movie theater, with sharper image, bolder color, and even if the few extra minutes of footage do not add significantly to the story - the story brilliant. I admit that I still hold the book in higher regard, few movies can touch this one for the overall reality.

Of course the story is simplified for the audience. Things that can't be explained are simply never mentioned in the hopes that the people won't even think about them. But it's a Sci Fi, special effects extravaganza and you can get the feeling of being right there, caught up in the life and death struggle of an astronaut stranded on Mars with little hope for survival. As far as high budget science fiction movies goes, this is one of the better ones. It mixes drama and adventure with a touch of comedy to pull off an entertaining movie with better than average special effects. If you're not about nit picking the little things like where to go to the bathroom while driving for 70 days in a row and where the water came from for that time, and why is a moving rover found so close to its lander and how to build a high grade bomb in 10 minutes, etc, this is great.

That is right a farmer in Mars, he grows food with his poop, and his friends poop after getting into travel for lollygagging when it was time to leave. It is like when you are not ready to go and you are threatened with the person leaving you and then they leave, except this happened in MARS, ok not exactly like that, this isn't home alone in Mars, but it should be. It is a good movie, watch it.
