It was easy to imagine that this could be boring, before watching it. However, after a brief, "ordinary" scientific Mars journey beginning, a storm of great power arrives at the scientific site, and things will never be the same. What follows is a journey of great intrigue, excitement and wonder. Total excellence in filmmaking and storytelling. Highest marks.

I saw this movie in theaters twice and loved it!! I was even more excited to find out about the extended edition and decided to buy it when it was on sale. One of my best purchases I have ever made. It is definitely worth the money and the sound and graphics are amazing on Blu-ray!! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in it!!

I thought 'The Martian' was one of the best movies of 2015! It was well acted (Matt Damon did a fantastic job), well written, and had great special effects. The story line kept the viewer on the edge of the seat the entire movie and invested in the outcome until the very end. The movie also had several bits of humor to ease the tension. Great, great movie.

This movie is a really fun adventure. It shows NASA in a positive light and gives us insight of what future NASA missions will be and the plans to go to Mars. I would recommend this movie because its accurate in the sense that the technology depicted in the movie is everything that we have today, and the story can be believed because of this depiction.

One of the best movies of the year. Visually stunning, and the sound is phenomenal. The cast and crew are all top-notch. I did run into problems with my disc freezing. Best Buy replaced it with no issues.

I wanted to love this movie, especially since it’s 3D, but I just wasn’t too impressed. The story is ok, it just wasn’t close to blowing me away. The 3D is good, not great.

Matt Damon is great in this movie and it's a great sci fi, part comedy with great affects and tells a great story. Damon is really good in this movie and it will hold you from start to finish. A definite must watch movie and the blu ray digital download package is great and the movie looks and sounds great and you can take it anywhere you go!

I saw this at the theater and couldn't wait to buy it on DVD! This is a wonderful acting job by Matt Damon, and the movie has just the right mix of drama and humor. The supporting cast is also very good, and the story moves at a good pace and keeps you engaged all the way. And there are an appropriate amount of thrills and effects for those wanting them!

We recently upgraded to a 4k bluray player. The Martian was one of the 4k movies we bought to compare with the regular bluray version we already owned. WOW! Details we missed previously really stand out, the difference is night and day. The Martian is right up there for a good drama. Adding the 4k upgrade was icing on the cake.

The Martian has been my favorite book ever since it came out and now it is near the top of my favorite movie list, too. I thought the BluRay version of this film was good but my oh my, the 4K UltraHD copy is spectacular. If you like more realistic SciFi flicks, with just a touch of humor to keep it fun, you'll love The Martian.

THE MARTIAN is truly memorable science fiction cinema. Interesting and provocative storytelling from beginning to end, and so very real that it's not too difficult to understand that we will finally walk on the red planet. This is a unique story, first rate cinematography and solid solo acting. I am happy to have it in my film collection

Not the greatest film from Ridley Scott, but not average either. Drew Goddard did a great job adapting Andy Weir's book. The story - Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is an astronaut that gets stranded on the surface of Mars during a major dust storm. Watney uses his intellect to find a way to survive, his sense of humor to keep his sanity, all while NASA figures out how to rescue him before he runs out of food. Visuals are fantastic. The score adds a lot to the desolation of Mars. And there are quite a few laughs. The story has some predictable elements, but overall it's very entertaining.

Superb movie of what space explorers can face when trouble comes and especially when far away. Rented it first but with so much detail in it, I bought it to see again and again to get the nuances of the movie.Plus all the extras that come with real ownership of disc provides will enable us to enjoy the movie more. Great addition to my Bluray collection.

Of the 8 movies that were up for best picture this was #2 on my list. Very entertaining but I think what makes it special is that most of what you see is possible and not just fantasy. You get a real sense of adventure watching the movie. Hoping one day that your still alive to see us actually go to Mars. This was a must own for my Blu Ray Collection.

This is yet another "save Matt Damon" flick. Previews hinted at watching a guy farm on mars for 2+ hours, which sounded extremely boring, but this is the furthest from the truth. This movie had me entertained throughout. The science behind everything was detailed enough to be interesting and not over too many people's heads and the casting was perfect.

This movie lived up to the hype it was given. It has a great mix of humor and drama to keep you engaged and entertained for the entire 2.5 hours of its duration. It honestly doesn't feel that long since it keeps you hooked from start to finish. Matt Damon is great as always, and pulls out all the stops to create a believable and entertaining character.

Great visuals, and overall does a good job of bringing the story to the screen, but... The script-writers took too many short-cuts and left out critical information that would have taken only seconds to add. Yes, I understand things have to be cut to fit into a viable movie time format of this size. But my two biggest gripes are the rover design and the rescue scene. These are COMPLETELY different from the book. Whoever designed the movie rover evidently didn't read the book through, and I'll let the viewer decide about the final rescue. Read the Book! Then watch the movie.

This movie was thought provoking, had wonderful acting, awesome overall story line and left the whole family thinking about space, life and sustainability. Even the little kids were asking really intellectual questions after this movie and showing interest in space, science and physics, makes me smile just thinking about it!

Matt Damon does so well in action packed yet thinking-man roles. There's a marvelous supporting cast and superb special effects, but it's really the relationship between Matt and the viewer that wins. You get to marvel at his fortitude, intellect and creativity and still eventually get that fist pumping "Yeah" moment when all seems lost. Great watch!

I love movies and I collect them,so that I can go back and watch again when I think about particular movies. I have an very large collection and my BlueRay collection is getting larger but still far behind regular DVDS. Matt Damon is an awesome actor and love nearly all of his movies, and looking forward to him going back to doing the Bourne movies.
