I loved getting the steelbook and extra features, but I am so tired of these movie companies drip feeding us and dollaring us to death...bring out all the options at once when the movie comes out and let us the consumers pick the one we want. Otherwise great movie and the few extra scenes should have been in the theatrical version any way.

I am not sure why I have watched this movie so many times, I have enjoyed the extra scenes that have been deleted from the theatrical version. if you can and like this movie then you should have it, the sound and HDR make a big difference.

My daughter and I really enjoyed this. A great Science Fiction story with a lot of good science, not fantasy. Very good acting by Matt Damon. My daughter liked how he grew his own food using his knowledge of botany. I liked how he used hexadecimal to communicate with NASA, because I use it almost everyday at work. Some good humorous parts as well.

There have been a few "space" movies out recently, and this one stands out. I found Interstellar to be slow and took itself too seriously. Gravity was light, fun entertainment but not much behind it. The Martian was far better. It had plenty of humor, great visuals, and Matt Damon actually made you care for the character. A must watch!

Was pleased that Best Buy offered The Martian in 3D when other retailers did not. As a point of interest President Obama mentioned that this was one of, if not his favorite movie last year. Even knowing the ultimate outcome the movie was able to maintain suspense. Also welcome the fact that the plot was based on plausible science available today.

Love this movie when it came out, so I'd been looking forward to owning it. Recent purchaser of a 4K television and Ultra HD blue-ray player. With the right cables and proper setup the result is fantastic! Better than being at the local Cineplex, since I don't have to deal with the couple next to me talking through the film!

The Martian is a great movie! If you haven't seen it, it's well worth watching, it's a Science Fiction movie with Drama. This is my secant 4K movie which are really nice clear sharp picture. Also has High Definition sound, which I thought was nice but not that much of an improvement over the great sound I already get.

There's not a big difference between this extended version and the theatrical cut, so I wouldn't say this is a must have. I personally like watching the movie in 3D, which is only available on a seperate bluray version and is only the theatrical cut. What this uhd version offers is a Dolby Atmos track that the standard bluray does not come with. I can't comment on the Atmos track, as I am not yet equipped with a uhd player or 4k TV. Either way, it's a great movie with stunning visuals and an excellent surround track no matter what version you get.

Matt Damon is injured on Mars with his team in a strange storm and is presumed dead by his team after being injured. The team gets back to earth only to find out he's alive and while they take a long trip back to Mars Matt Damon's character has to find out how to survive for something like 400 days on a planet that can barely sustain life.

My son wanted this DVD for Christmas. I bought the Blue Ray, but unfortunately, my DVD player is "Old School," and doesn't allow Bue Ray DVDs to work. So I exchanged for regular DVD. This movie was very entertaining. My high school son enjoyed the movie, especially since he is interested in NASA. Matt Damon was very entertaining.

After buying a new TV and an XBOX One S I had everything I needed to enjoy 4K. Since the TV meets the specs for HDR premium I was looking forward to purchasing some movies that would allow me to take advantage of this. Looking at some reviews online The Martian seemed to be a good one, so I bought it. While the movie is good, I don't love it but do like it, I did enjoy the 4K and HDR. With HDR the colors looked really, really, good and authentic. The surface of mars shots were great. This is not the best example of 4K HDR but it is pretty good.

He got lost or had to be found costing the US Tax payers Billions This time. By far one of his most expensive times getting lost. Not sure if this one or Interstellar cost the US Tax payers more. But he got lost again, he useed some fairly plausible science for the most part, that is always good, then he got rescued.... again.

Hard to believe that The Martian began life as a self-published novel, only to become a surprise 2015 hit. The always-dependable Matt Damon turns in a winning performance, accompanied by a number of smaller, but still worthwhile supporting roles. The DVD is not as unforgettable as seeing it on a big screen, but it's still highly worthwhile.

"The Martian" is one of Ridley Scott's true masterpieces. It's difficult to summarize all the many, many, many great things about it. It's just a magnificent, classic work of art. And at the center of it all is a knockout performance by Matt Damon. I love this film.

it was a good movie. i put the disc in and pressed play. it went from start to finish. we ate popcorn. the popcorn could have been better. more imitation butter flavor would have done the trick. i ejected the disc and put it back in the case. it look great on my shelf.

The Martian is one of Ridley Scott's best films especially in recent years.The screeplay by Drew Goddard is great.The only down side to this release is it's not loaded with bonus features like most of Ridley Scott's blu ray releases.However,Fox has confirmed a double dip with much more special features later this year.So be aware of that.

Anyone will enjoy watching Matt Damon's indomitable spirit, resourcefulness, and humor throughout this entertaining movie. Probably best if you check your science knowledge at the door. Of course, it's called science fiction for a reason. Watch and enjoy, just don't expect everything to make sense. Overall very well made and fun to watch.

I purchased this movie with My Best Buy points and couldn't be happier! The digital copy was easy to access and gave several options for online services to accept it. I was able to upload it to my Google Play account without any issues. I have an older Blu-ray player and as such, the Blu-ray copy has not worked. It may be time to upgrade.

Watched this movie with family (incl a 12 and 14 year old). We all were entertained enough to watch the entire movie. Did not have us "on the edge of our seats" since we already knew the ending, but it was fairly well done. For those that are interested for family reasons, the "f-word" is in the movie. Its truly unnecessary, but that doesn't stop them these days. I had read the book. Movie basically followed the book. Visuals are quite good. Damon was fine, although there are thousands of actors that could have handled this role just as well. Good overall.

This should be one of the AFI top 100 movies of all time in the future. Just a overall great movie. Never have been a big Matt Damon fan, but this was probably one of his best roles, at least since Saving Private Ryan. Found the "science" aspects of the situation to be quite factual, from growing food, trying to make water to his resuce.
