If you are a space enthusiast this is a must see film. It is truly a masterpiece of cinema in the space genre. Humorous, serious and overall phenomenal, you must see this movie. The steelbook itself is probably my favorite steelbook in my collection, however, it would be much nicer if it was a glossy finish.

I had seen this movie in the theater and enjoyed it. I enjoy comparing movies to the original book, so after reading the book I picked up the DVD to see the movie again. True to the spirit of the book with a few interesting changes. Lots more detail in the book, of course. A fun exercise. And who doesn't love Matt Damon!

Finally, a recent Sci-Fi movie that doesn't try to get by on fast action and special effects. I found myself actually caring what happened to the characters. Like most movies of this nature there's a few holes in the story (maybe edited out?), but I found it mostly believable and overall very well acted, filmed and written.

The movie itself was a great success for Matt Damon. The acting was top notch and the visuals were believable. Aside from that, the features offered on the Blu-Ray were great. (Commentaries, Making of, lots of special features included) As with any Blu-Ray disc, the quality of the visual content is crisp, clear and full.

Bought this for our bedroom. While the pic quality is not as good as our oled, for the price it is a close second. No complaints about the color quality or clarity of the picture. Overall we are are very pleased and have no complaints. Glad we took the sales person's advice and bought the recommended sound bar.

This was one of the better movies I've seen in a while. It is not a comedy which I was told by some that it was, it does have its moments though. I bought the 3-D version and really enjoyed it, the effects are very well executed and look realistic. I will watch again in the near future, ITS WORTH ADDING TO YOUR COLLECTION.

This is not your typical science fiction movie. Damon added a likability factor that's normally hard to find in these types of movies. There's humor added as well and in spite of the scenario in which Damon is mostly the center of, it keeps you enjoyed and entertained because of how well written it is. Highly recommended!

I bought this movie as an impulse buy. I wanted to see it in theaters but didn't have the time. The Martian was a fantastic movie that has a little bit of everything. Humor, drama and action. All the cast did an excellent job. I especially enjoyed seeing this side of Kristen Wiig. I highly recommend picking this title up.

Wasn't sure about watching this movie at the start. But it turned out to be such an awesome movie!! I got sucked in and enjoyed the adventure. A must have if you like Mat Damon, which I do! I bought it for my library of movies! I have watched it numerous of times. I never get tired of his character in this movie!

I got this because the 4k imaging and Atmos audio were supposed to be really good and wanted to see how good via my newish LG Oled TV and Denon 4k Amp and Atmos speaker setup. It did not disappoint. Some slight video noise in a few scenes but not enough to distract, and image on the LG 4K Oled was astonishingly good. Atmos sound was also truly multi-dimensional. I would say this film should be included in virtually any collection of 4K Blu-Rays just for these superb technical performances.

This is one of the very best movies I've watched in the past five years. I just loved it. It had a great sense of drama and humor combined as well as an entertaining soundtrack of music. Most poignant was when the David Bowie song appeared as I watched it shortly after Bowie's death. Great movie! I recommend you buy it.

This well crafted film is a great example to older children and teens what a dedication to science can do for them. It's uplifting to see the fight using intellect and science to survive an extraordinary predicament which could have left others hopeless. Bowie's hit "Starman" is perfectly placed in the film as well.

I thought this would be just another sci-fi movie but it was a great movie and the 3D effects were intense. For it being a long movie, it didn't get slow at any point. Always had you on the edge of your seat and the humor throughout was an added bonus. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a stellar movie.

It was beautifully produced and directed. Matt Damon was over the top. Thought the story line was odd in that we viewer knew absolutely nothing about the main character in terms of background, family, former life. The omission made it more difficult to imagine the impact failure would have had. We knew a bit more about the crew members that left him behind and then rescued him. I understand the movie was patterned after a novel, which perhaps set the stage for what seemed like a real omission to me.

When I saw the trailer for this movie I was like eh ok it looks ok. After I watched the movie on tv I regretted not going to the theaters to see it because that movie was amazingly suspenseful! You didn't think it could get worse for him when it did and when you think he can't survive he thinks of another way.

I love reading, and read the book inspiration a few months before it came out and, for such a hard science book, I was able to follow and remain engaged. It was the same with the movie; it was what a book to movie adaptation should be. Very entertaining, with some nail biting humor and just enough humor to keep it fun.

Excellent uhd bluray, colors while on Mars are amazing, showing the reds of the planet and HDR definitely adds to the picture! It comes with regular theatrical cut and directors cut. I liked the latter more for the few added scenes, they were funny. Sound is great too. Definitely a show piece for your 4k setup!

Excellent movie with stunning picture and sound. This is as close as you can get to exploring Mars! Some scenes are just absolutely incredible (the rover chase!). Nice 4k edition.

It looked great in 1080p and looks even better in 4K. The only thing that I don't like is that the digital version is not 4K but on the flip side the bandwidth to stream 4K just isn't there yet unless you're paying a lot of money per month. If you have a 4K TV with HDR, there is no better way to watch this.

One never knows whether a movie will be a blockbuster or a bust when one buys a DVD without knowing anything about the story. Regardless, in this case my purchase was a real treat -- great story, great acting, thrilling situations, successful resolution of the issues that plagued the hero. I would recommend this movie.
