If you are a Sci-Fi fan, this is a must own! One of the best films of 2015 and one of Ridley Scott's best of all time. Matt Damon and the rest of the star-studded cast add the true sense of realism for an endeavor that seems to be in the not too distant future.

Saw the movie, Matt Damon was great in the lead role of a thrilling Sci-Fi action adventure. Would recommend this to anyone, the movie is that good. Can't figure the Golden Globes nomination for best comedy though,this is Sci-Fi action adventure at its finest..

I loved this movie in theaters and when I heard there was going to be an extended edition I knew I had to have it. Not a whole lot was added but this movie is so great every little bit extra is a welcome addition. Being a steelbook is also a nice bonus.

The technology displayed in this movie is awesome. Call it an "updated" Apollo 13 making it much more relevant for our time. A manned mission to mars and the worst that could happen. Watch this movie and see how Matt Damon saves his own life........

This is one my favorite movies that has come out recently. Matt Damon's performance is incredible and he makes you feel like you are alone with him. This movie is like an intense version of Castaway in space and will have you holding your breath at times.

I saw it at the theater with my boyfriend. We liked the Martian so much we wanted to add it to our collection of great movies so we could watch it when ever we wanted. We like blu-ray because of the special features. The Martian was a good buy at a good price.

This is a very good adaptation of the book. Of course, with any movie adaptation, the book is more detailed and I highly recommend reading it. That said, this movie fixes some of the weaknesses/problems with the book and still captures the spirit of the story.

I loved the book by Andy Weir, and the movie is a really close interpretation of the story. This is one of those movies you can watch over and over, picking up little things you missed in previous viewings. If you're a sci-fi fan, then you'll love it; I did!

Matt Damon does a great job in this--special effects are awesome and it's a great story. Had heard good things about it before I saw it, but it's every bit as entertaining as billed (actually more humor than I expected)...and it should have won BEST PICTURE!!

It seems like a modern adaption of Apollo, ingenuity saves the astronaut...again. Matt does a great job fighting against incredible odds to survive; much less be rescued by a world cheering for this man hundreds of millions of miles away.

Though this movie is another science fiction movie it actually shows what kind of imagination that could someday be science fact for real. Great movie and acting. Maybe a real trip to Mars could be a possibility in the near future. Only wish I could could go!

The Martian was a great summer blockbuster. I purchased the regular amaray blu ray on release day, but when Best Buy released the extended edition on steelbook, it was a must have. The movie is great, the steelbook is beautiful and the price was right!

well-known and popular movie with interesting drama of being abandoned on mars. this is a well reviewed movie and don't intend to compete with them, but do strongly endorse the 3D version. in many cases 3D is just sort of a gimmick for a movie, but in this case i think it does really enhance it, mostly with respect to space scenes and even more the martian surface---at least for wannabe space travelers.

Movie reviews described the role played by real scientists, one in particular but I forget his name, who took active role in making sure the technical details are consistent with reality, given the mission to Mars as a fictional basis for the movie.

Skeptical before purchasing due to recent similar story involving two other leading actors, but glad I did. This movie is Matt Daman at his best, with a solid, uplifting story line, good special effects, and strong acting throughout. Great story. Great movie.

I saw the Martian in the movie theater and knew I had to purchase it for my 4K UHD 70" Vizio. The quality of the picture and sound was AMAZING! I have watched it multiple times now and enjoy the bragging rights about my Man Cave to my friends.

I saw this movie on sale and had to get it (been watching digital 1080p since it came out). I was very impressed with the 4K version, planning to get more in the near future as new titles come out and I can add to my Blu-ray collection.

I saw The Martian at the theater and had to buy the DVD for my home collection. I'll be watching it again and again. The movie never lagged and had several humorous moments. There were reminders of several movies: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien, and even Up.

One of the sharpest 4ks that I own, the level of detail in this movie is amazing. The HDR is also very pleasing with all of the oranges and blue hues.

If you have not yet seen "The Martian", do you and your family a big favor and plan an evening together to enjoy this wonderful film. Great for kids and adults. My husband and I have seen it 3 times! I also purchased this DVD for my daughter and grandkids!
