Took the time to see the film twice when it was shown in theaters. I've read the novel, with exception of a few parts (because profanity is throughout the novel) the film is spot on. If you enjoyed Interstellar and are a Damon fan, this film is for you.

The DVD SET is complete with some extras but did not meet expectations generated by advertisements!

Good use of science, problem-solving, action, and interesting characters to envision a possible mission to Mars. The movie is great on its own, and I strongly recommend the book, which has nearly twice as many scenes of problem-solving as the movie.

I'm not a movie reviewer but this movie is one of my favorites. It's probably one of the top SyFy movies of the past decade. I bought this to demonstrate my new 4K HDR Blu Ray player and tv. Excellent choice and great Matt Damon movie!

I absolutely love this book, and this movie adaptation is one that very nearly captures all the best elements of the book. The movie is well done and deserves the recognition it has received.

I enjoy movies that have a different twist to them and this one does. It's sort of sci-fi but not - just a good story about survival. I started watching it on a flight but didn't finish it so I decided to buy it and have watched it several times since.

Loved this movie! It holds your attention. Not just "another guy movie." Brings space life alive and makes you wonder about all the "what ifs". Would be cool to see more space exploration in real life. A captivating adventure with good picture quality.

This movie is absolutely awesome (as has been noted in every review of the movie itself)! The 3D Blu-Ray does not disappoint. Brilliant transfer, killer DTS audio, and almost a dozen featurettes. Well worth the extra couple of bucks for the 3D version.

I don't usually like personal survival movies but found the character development of Matt Damon well done. For a movie with not a lot of supporting cast members (on Mars anyway) I was still entertained. Two thumbs up.

Displaying the power of not giving up, Matt Damon potrays an astronaut mistakenly left for dead on Mars. Using the power of his brain, he searches for ways to survive and contact NASA. Though the constant problems become repetitive. Never the less, you always root for him.

Matt Damon is great in this film. He has a huge sense of humor considering the situation he's in. He's phenomenally smart and creative. Aside from that, the plan to bring him home is a long shot, and with a miracle, they make it happen. Awesome movie!

This story kept me engaged all the way through. Matt Damon is superb! in displaying his astronaut character's ingenuity and never-give-up attitude to overcome every roadblock Mars throws at him as he fights to survive in the alien Martian environment.

Really enjoyed this movie. The 3D coupled with 7.1 audio was phenomenal. Matt delivered like usual with some good humor balanced with the intense nature of the plot. I used to be into Astronomy and found the movie and concepts within to be plausible.

"The Martian" is a great movie, however I was a little surprised that it didn't follow the book as well as it should IMHO. The visual reproduction on the Bl-ray is great I noticed no shift in the colors. the video extras are pretty good even though most of them were available before the release of the movie in the form of some fake documentary features. I just wished they followed the book more closely on certain things..

Read the book first & I gotta say this is one of the few movies that holds it's own with the book. watched it in the same week as watching the 2001 200x clarke movies & it faired well against the the Kubric film & blows the second out of the water.

This movie is great. I purchased it on 4K Blu-Ray. I also bought it again when they released the extended cut. It really gets you thinking. So dramatic with great action. The writing is amazing. What a great movie!!

We saw this movie in the theater and it was wonderful! Matt Damon did an awesome job captivating the audience in his mostly solo role. A great story about surviving at all costs, even when it seems the odds are against you. I'm a HUGE Matt Damon fan!

Matt Damon does a great job. This had many real aspects to it. Science fiction, but a lot of science in it. The only unlikely thing is that we probably will not send people to Mars and bring them back; they will likely just go to Mars and live there.

Very plausible and easy to follow the story line and become involved in the various steps necessary to connect and plan the trip home. I had to play it a second time immediately after the first viewing. It left me wanting more movies like this one.

Initially I wasn't sure this would be a movie that would be enjoyable thinking there would be too much technical jargon but was pleasantly surprised that it had a solid story line with Matt Damon's usual outstanding talent. High marks for this one!!
