Most of the time whenever people say that an anime is awesome and I have to check it out, and that everyone else in the world likes it too, I end up finding out that that anime actually kinda sucks, or that it at least wasn't as good as they had me imagining it would be. Haruhi is one of the very few really popular animes that actually exceeded any of my expectations. Basically, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is, well, about the melancholy of a girl named Haruhi Suzumiya which she feels because she is bored with the world, and thinks that there is nothing exciting or fascinating about normal life. So, she eventually starts up the SOS Brigade (an after school club), which meets up in the hopes of one day finding aliens, time travelers, ESPers, or really anything that is just out of the ordinary. I can relate to her in a way because (even though I may not try to find these sorts of things), I do sometimes find myself imagining what it would be like if the real world really did have supernatural beings. This anime does a great job of portraying those types of emotions, and you can't help but to be drawn in to her world. The animation is really well done, and the opening theme is pretty catchy as well. I would definately recommend this to anyone who likes anime at all, and I can say with confidence that this purchase would not be regretted. The only regret anyone may have, though, is that they didn't buy the special edition instead.......

I luv this series the first four episodes to a great job of introducing the characters, and getting you to like them. despite the fact that you shouldn't like the pushy haruhi she is extremely magnetic. the story doesnt get as deep as it does later but it will still pull you in. it was hard waitin for the second volume. now its harder to wait for a chance to get the 3rd and the fourth doesn't come out til november!! and i cant wait because i have to know what happens next.

I heard a lot about this anime from my magazines and i have to say it definately lived up to the hype. A lot of the time the english voice actors don't do so great, but these ones did exceedingly well. The first Pseudo episode is hilarious! The comments the main character makes about events in his life with Haruhi are the best part about this anime. I would highly reccomend this to anybody who has seen at least a few animes before and loves comedy.

This anime is one of the best i've ever seen. i had no idea what it was about till i watched the first episode and it just sucked me. The characters are all great and the animation is really HQ. The story is really interesting and the 2nd season should be just as good when it comes out. A must watch for any anime fan or otaku.
