Bad Drama
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is tons of bickering and fighting each other. It's all about people not believing in this phenomenon. Annoying after awhile.

Uhh... The Mist isn't very good.

Stephen King + Darabont= Perfect chemistry
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Darabont is a truly underrated and masterful filmmaker, proving himself time after time--Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile--that he understands the source of his films, the human condition behind those stories, but most importantly, the audience. A rarity nowadays. With The Mist, his third SK adaptation, he proves it, once again, making an incredibly well made horror/thriller, that manages to stay with you, long after the credits rolled. If you're a SK fan or a film buff in general, this film is a MUST in your collection.

The ending...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ending...what else can be said. That and Stephen King... what else do you need to know. Lastly, also alot of actors from the Walking Dead.

50's style Horror-Scifi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you were raised back in the day when Creature Feature was prevalent on public TV, then you will agree " The Mist " parallels the old 50's style monster movies. The story, acting and FX were quite good, with some very good performances from the cast. synopsis - David Drayton (Thomas Jane) is an artist living with his wife and son in small town, USA. Following a terrible thunderstorm that knocks out the power and uproots a decades-old tree that falls through the home, David, his son Billy (Nathan Gamble), and next door neighbor with whom David is at-odds, Brent (Andre Braugher), head to the local Supermarket to pick up a few supply's, during the shopping spree an unusual fog comes rolling in on the town. At this point terror ensues as people in the parking area begin to scream in terror... Something is terribly wrong in the mist! The survivors hold up inside the market, only to find, the biggest danger is a pseudo holy roller preaching that the mist is a result of Gods anger and creates havoc by turning the survivors against one another. In the final moments escaping survivors give the viewer an ending that is as shocking as it is controversial. video - 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode (2.40:1) ratio. This is a very fine transfer to Blu-ray on a BD-50 dual-layer disc. The black and white version is supplied on a BD-25 single layer disc. Colors are true to life with clarity and good definition with no filtering noted grain is minimal. audio - presented in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (48khz/24-bit) this is a very solid encode into hidef with good use of satellites. Discrete effects are effective in the rear zones. Mark Isham's score sounds fantastically creepy and Dialogue is clean and intelligible, without surging. extra's - All are presented in hidef which is the way it should be, even the trailer. commentary by Frank Darabont - When Darkness Came: The Making of The Mist - Featurettes (Monsters Among Us: A Look at the Creature F/X) - Deleted Scenes - Theatrical Trailers HD.. If you enjoy good horror movies like I do, I think you will really enjoy this rare treasure in the Scifi/Horror Genre..

ALMOST PERFECT!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok let me start by saying at first i wasn't sure i should buy this blu-ray because i already have the DVD special edition and someone told me they had problems with the menus and special features not working....But i'm glad i decided to get it because it works perfectly on my SONY BDP-N460 BLU-RAY PLAYER...THATS NEVER BEEN FIRMWARE UPDATED.... and i mean perfectly ! this movie is really cool on dvd and taken to total perfection on blu-ray the special features are great as well and i really like director frank darabonts commentary track. all in all this is a great outer limits type movie experience with thomas jane leading the way...if i have one gripe about this film is that i didn't like the ending that much but i can see how it works for the film. if it wasn't for the ending i would be giving this film a 100% perfect score this movie is definately worth getting on blu-ray it's extremely well done and well acted you can tell everyone involved gave everything a 100% effort 100% of the time i'm proud to have the mist in my blu-ray collection t's more than worth the purchase price

Great Movie, Bad Blu-ray
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my honest opinion, i feel that "the mist" is one of the finer adaptations of King's works. The characters and plot pacing were spot on, and the ending is one of my favorites. i waited to see the movie for quite some time wondering if it was going to be another big hollywood trashing of King's works. i was more than pleasantly surprised at the time and care made by the same fine director responsible for "the green mile" and "the shawshank redemption." the first thing i did when i bought the blu ray edition was to watch the movie in black and white by the way reminds me of a great episode of "the outer limits" (a big compliment there, mind you.) when i finally purchased a blu ray player i was excited to see all the finer details offered by this technology. every movie i bought up to that moment looked sharp and sounded better than most movie theaters. when i bought my blu ray edition of this movie i was shocked to find that my player could not access any of the extras boasted on the box and the menus on both discs! at first i thought that there was a defective disc and that an exchange for another would help remedy the matter. i exchanged it and the SAME results happened. i decided to just keep the movie and just watch the films (thank goodness the commentary track worked!) by themselves. this does not mean im no longer going to buy anymore blu rays, im just not going to go to the trouble of exchanging dvds that dont work! All in all, Great Movie, BAD Blu-ray!

best stephen king movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.thomas jane is great as an artist with a family who strugles through this epidimic. as soon as they all get trapped in the store, its a fun, haunting thrill ride from there on. and when i put the ending under the pros catagory, its cuz i like endings like that. its really horrible and depressing. i not giving anything away though. everybody does a great job in this near masterpiece from a stephen king book. i would even go ad far as saying its better than 1408. and 1408 was great. this movie is just so well done and you can tell that everyone had fun making it. and another surprise, its not a cheesy or campy movie in any way. sure it might be a little cliched but the movie itself even admits it. in the begining, some peolple of course dont believe thomas jane when they get trapped in the store, so they go to the loading dock of the store and look for themselves. one thing leads to another and the stupid teenager gets dragged away. but its not really a problem cuz it so well done and everyone is playing it straight. including the unstable spiratual crazy lady and thinks shes gods gift to earth and recruits half the store. overall, i loved it and you will too.

Another fantastic Frank Darabont film
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Frank Darabont, who previously adapted Stephen King's "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile" finally turns his skills to one of King's horror tales with this suspenseful yarn of a group of small-town Maine residents who are trapped together in a grocery store when a mysterious fog brings on terrifying creatures from another world. Though much of the suspense comes from the beasts outside the store, the true drama is created by the increasing tension between the humans inside. Darabont really knows how to squeeze emotion out of this situation, as he did in his previous work. The 2-Disc edition features a black-and-white version of the film, which was Darabont's original intention. Don't miss out on this excellent thriller.

Great horror movie!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a fantastic film! My wife and I loved it! They did a great job with the character depth and giving you a taste of human vs. human, not just human vs. monster. This film will tug at your emotions, and it's suppose to. Many people said there wasn't enough of the creatures in the film, that's only part of the story. It also shows how different kinds of people react in a time of crisis, not only towards others but themselves. This film will have you scared, angry, sad, cheering, back to angry, back to sad. I love it! By the end of the film, you're emotions have been kicked around like a small dog, you won't know how to feel. A definite must own, you'll want to see it more than once. I highly recommend it!

Sleeper Hit, Loved it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this movie and i didn't expect to at first. This is one of those, what would you do in this situation films. It explores how dark and how violent our own humanity can be when our lives are in danger. From selfishness to survive and refuse offering help, to trying to band together, to transferance of blame, to seeking whateever spiritual advice shows up. This is definitely worth watching, then afterwords try this game. Discuss what you would have done and why. Would you brave danger with your child to go find your loved one, would you hide it out, or seek help, would you lead or would you follow.

Amazing Story and Very Well Done
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had never read this story which apparently is one of Stephen King's older books. I won't say much about the plot line because it has to be seen to be believed. However it is, as others have stated, a story about what a group of humans might do in a very unusual situation. For those of you who are fans of THE TWILIGHT ZONE or THE OUTER LIMITS, you'll feel very much at home with this movie. Extremely well done and very clever. The "Making Of" portion is very good too. Great directing and storytelling. I liked it alot and am very glad I added it to my collection.

WoW!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I expected this movie to be really bad but a couple people told me it was good. I gotta agree that it was really good. The graphics weren't all that great but it makes up for it in action and suspense. The ending was was the only problem because it was a really messed up ending. It doesn't even explain how far it spreads which isn't much of a big deal but it would have been cool if it said it. If you're interested in seing a good movie one night, pick this up.

The Missed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Superb DVD picture and audio quality (which would be expected). The fact that the B&W version is also presented here is a great bonus. The movie itself fell short of my expectations. It took a long time to build up and the suspense peaked way before the climax leaving me feeling a bit bored in the interim. *SPOILER (sort of)* The ending is what did it for me. I hate the ending of this movie. It is not Stephen King's original ending yet he gave it his seal of approval I understand. I fully accept that in these kinds of films, a happy, warm, and fuzzy ending does not always take place. However, the ending had been built up as one of the most disturbing film endings ever. And it is disturbing, but mostly in that it is so idiotic and quite out of character. I felt completely let down by this cheesy ending and all I could do was utter, "oh come on, that was so stupid." For those of you who'll know what I mean here, the ending to The Village is better. In closing, your two hours would be better spent on many other superior films. I'll recommend this with caution. I think watching it in B&W is fun, but don't say I didn't at least try to warn you about the silly ending.
