One day In his later years Dumas' son found him reading an old book. It was the Three Musketeers and the son asked Dumas why he was reading it. Dumas answered that he had promised himself that when he was old he would read the story and decide if it was really any good. When the son asked what the decision was Dumas answered it was very good. I agree and in this worthy series by the BBC Dumas' immortal characters return and do their creator proud. Good actors, excellent production values and interesting stories make for a winning combination. I liked it so much that after watching the first episode I went back to Best Buy and bought a second copy to give my sister for her birthday.

If you are looking for the classic Three Musketeers, than this show may not be for you. They have taken some liberty with the characters and story line when compared to the book or interpretations of the characters in most Musketeer movies. That being said, this is a fresh take on the characters. The sets and costumes are fantastic with a slightly modern feel. The storyline is one that will keep you interested. If you like how BBC presented Robin Hood, you will probably enjoy this series too. It has much of the same feel to it.

This show was first aired on BBC America and is based on Dumas' Musketeers novels. There is a lot of action, wit and pretty people. For sticklers, the stories presented in the TV show doesn't really match the stories written by Dumas. But, you will enjoy the romp and it's an easy 8 hours. BTW, this show has been renewed for a second season, but without Peter Capaldi (who is the newest Dr. Who).

Great plots and directing! Humor and intensity! Actors are believable after gave their all in sword fight training! Four actors fit the profiles of those written wonderfully. Czechloslovakia beautiful for filming. Fantastic, detailed costume design. Keeps you interested in seeing what will happen the next week!

The Musketeers quickly became a regular at our house! The whole family got into it. Great acting! Loved all of the actors playing the Musketeers as well as Peter Capaldi as the Cardinal. Highly recommend this series and hope they bring it back for a second season. Blu-Ray extras were great to watch, too!

BBC does a great job with the classics (of course). Having already proved themselves with the SHERLOCK series, I was curious about their approach to the Three Musketeers lore and I was not disappointed. Produced with style and graceful action, the series is thoroughly entertaining to experience.

Action, comedy, drama. The Musketeers has it all. There is always something going on which invites the Musketeers to get involved dramatically. I love the humor. The writers have captured what I look for in a television series. Kind of reminds me of "Merlin" but better.

I wasn't expecting it but this series really does a good job of capturing the spirit of dumas' classic novel. great period acting. top shelf guest stars including Vincent regan, Vinnie jones, Jason flemying, luke pasqualino is a great up and comer as d'artanan

This Musketeers series is so riveting that I can't wait for the next episode! The actors are very convincing in their roles and the location where it is filmed fits the time period. It is easy to immerse oneself in the action.

Pretty good for another stab at this storyline. I would think, this is what Alexander Dumas had in mine if, he were around to see this on the screen. I think, it's much better than all of the ones they've made for the big screen.

I love this show. It's the "Downton Abbey" of the Musketeers. The costumes and filming locations are just as much a part of the whole Musketeer experience as are the acting and the characters. It's just a joy to watch.

The 1974 and 1993 movie versions were great but this BBC production puts both to shame. The costumes and scenery are gorgeous and the acting superb. And the price at Best Buy sealed the deal. A great purchase!

I really enjoyed this show! It's a lot of fun. The characters are great. There's a good balance between action, drama & comedy. I'm a special features junkie, though, so I wish there were a few more.

This is the first season of the Musketeer TV series that follows the standard story plot with no real surprises. If you are a Musketeer/Swash Buckler fan then this is a TV show worth the watch.

Entertaining series to watch. The series goes deeper than many of the popular movies are able to. Each episode gives background to each character and their involvement in protecting/overthrowing France.

Each Character is developed through the episodes. This is well produced by the BBC and the series will encourage you to continue to watch for the next episode.

Peter Capaldi is great as Cardinal Richelieu. There are several guest stars from other well known series (for example James Callis from Battlestar Galactica).

A friend of mine recommended this British series to me so I picked it up on sale and really enjoyed it. Good production values and a handsome cast make this enjoyable adventure escapism.

Very entertaining TV series from BBC. As with most BBC productions (Dr. Who, Sherlock) the production values are very good: Actors, acting, sets, plots, etc. Well worth a look.

I bought this show not really knowing anything about it but I'm glad I did. Really good show, great actors, good storyline. I would highly recommend it.
