Before And After "The Night Of"

This limited series is the best series I've seen since HBO's "The Wire". The main story and main character are surrounded by other stories and other characters. My expectations were exceeded many times over. The night of the event takes a backstage to the people and happenings prior to and the aftermath. People adapt, fall in love, risk careers, cross forbidden lines, close their minds to different possibilities, disagree, doubt one another, but still in the end must rely on someone else. I am intentionally being non-specific to avoid giving away the plot, which is intricate to say the least. You must see it for yourself. Knowing what happens before and after is important to understanding "What Happened 'The Night Of'".

The word 'Genius' is thrown around these days, sometimes to not-so-great effect. To call 'The Night Of' genius is to underestimate the thing itself. Steven Zaillian, Richard Price, and Company have created something that will stand the test of time. It so greatly evokes the current frame of mind in regards to so many things (prejudice, incarceration, the legal process, bias, etc.) that one is almost overwhelmed as you watch. John Turturro is so amazing in this...and Riz Ahmed astounds. You cannot go wrong with 'The Night Of.' Snagged it on Black Friday for only $20, too! ;)

    The Night Of - BD

HBO continues their outstanding programming with yet another series following their True Detective seasons 1 & 2. I sat down to watch the first episode of this series and ended up watching the entire thing in one sitting...it's THAT good. The BD boxset is the way to go but I did view parts of the DVD version later on and it's worthy as well....should you choose the DVD format. My purchase of the BD at Best Buy was at a ridiculously low price. Find yours on sale and it's a win/win. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The Night of is the American version of the UK's "Criminal Justice" Season 1. Extraordinarily written and acted. You can sympathize with a character in one episode and hate it on the next and vice-versa. Throughout a criminal case, the series shows many of the problems of our penal system, where someone can be transformed completely in something worse than before; innocent people can be converted into criminals inside the system, just because they needed to survive it. Highly recommended

The Night Of takes you on a roller coaster ride and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole series. Great acting and character development allows you to witness how a series of events can change your life forever. Take a deeper dive into the criminal justice system we have today and the implications that exist for those involved, both directly and indirectly.

The best mini-series since True Detective

The pilot of The Night Of should be enough to hook everyone, from the most casual fan of Noir Dramas to the film buff who appreciates the episode’s stunning cinematography and editing. There’s a slight mid-season lull, but with full redemption by the series finale. Graphic without being grotesque, realistic without being overtly racist or offensive, The Night Of is one I’ll revisit for years to come and pick out a new detail each time.

After watching the series while it aired on HBO I was instantly hooked after the first episode. When the blu-ray was finally released, it was hovering around the $30 range. After a few months it finally went down significantly in price. I rarely buy TV series, but, this is one that was worth having a physical copy. The series is split between 3 discs and comes with digital copies.

This is one of the best crime series I've ever see. It's 8 episodes and it feels and flows like an 8 hour movie. The acting, directing, and writing are all fantastic. I couldn't recommend it enough especially for those who love a good crime story.

I had heard good things about this show, and it definitely lived up to high expectations. At one episode I noticed it was slower-paced, but wasn't really bothered by it. This drama is an in-depth exploration of not just our criminal justice system but also of prejudice in America post 9/11. Highly recommend..

NAZ THE MAIN CHARACTER WAS AN INNOCENT PERSON WHO GOT IN OVER HIS HEAD. THE STORY LINE STARTS OUT VERY SLOW, AND BALLOONS INTO A WORK OF ART. THE DIALOGE AND ACTING KEPT YOU WANTING FOR MORE. THE STORY AND MUSIC WAS TRUE TO REALITY AND WHAT WE CRAVE FOR IN A MINISERIES. WELL DONE WITH EVERYONE INVOLVED.

I highly recommend this series. Fantastic acting from the entire cast. Likewise, the plot and pacing create enough tension to provide the viewer with that 'dread in the pit of your stomach' feeling. Picked up at Best Buy at an incredibly affordable price. Enjoy.

Really enjoyed watching this show throughout the past week. The best part about this show is you're never sure if the main character is guilty or innocent. I will not give spoilers, but the only bad thing I'll say about the show is that there is no payoff in the end. I much prefer something like True Detective S1, but this is well worth checking out.

HBO has some of the best original programming and The Night Of is another to add to the list. Dark and enthralling, this mini series is superbly acted and well worth a watch. I purchased on sale for less than $20, a steal imo.

This was 1 of the better crime miniseries that came out. It takes you into the inner workings of the case and shows how corrupt the justice system is when they are just looking for a conviction based off who the suspect is.

Captivating characters, riveting plot and can’t-pull-yourself-away storytelling. Unique perspective on the entire legal system and cultural bias. The Night of is a hidden night of entertainment with a side of edifying insight.

$12.99 for Blu-Ray and Digital led to my purchase. Reviews seem to say this is worth the watch, and that this will be the only "season" for this show/mini series. Haven't watched myself but am looking forward to it.

I caught a few episodes of this drama on HBO. When I spotted it at Best Buy with a great price, I bought it. No disappointments, this is worth watching again and again due to the fine acting and wonderful story.
