I enjoyed this more than some reviews would have you believe. Picture quality was fantastic and the audio quality was well done.

Not Super Scary - Just Right

I wouldn’t say that The Nun is a super scary movie; but as someone who grew up going to Catholic school and actually had to take a demonology class in high school, I did appreciate the symbolism and story line. Granted, a lot of fiction is added; but it’s still a worthwhile movie to watch for those who have some curiosity on possessions and/or just want something that’s not super scary. Taking off a star because the digital copy that came with the movie seems to have expired in 2019 and can no longer be redeemed, so was disappointed about that.

The Conjuring adds a solid if a bit flawed prequel

Taking from James Wan's highly successful Conjuring universe, the Nun adds the beginning chapter to franchise. While the story does its best to add depth to the frightening demon Valek from the Conjuring 2 , the Nun does not take full advantage of the opportunity to add gravitas to it's now iconic villain. With the majority of the story doing more to showcase the Nun's abilities more than give much reason for them or her actions. Despite this, the movie itself was still enjoyable buoyed by a wonderful performance by Taissa Farmiga, real life sister to Vera Farmiga. The product itself is the long term way to get the best quality with 4k, blu-ray and digital most of the time for only a few dollars more than blu-ray alone. While still not the deepest horror film, The Nun stands out as the better film between itself and the original Annabelle but does not surpass either of the main Conjuring entries or the excellent Annabelle prequel.

This movie makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. The nun leaves you on the edge of your seat the whole movie. If you like scary movies this one should be at the top of your list. The 4k version makes things even more horrifying. The picture and detail makes things seem real. Real enough to make you look over your shoulder to make sure the nun isnt behind you.

Not the best in the conjuring universe, but still good. Takes it back to it's roots, very cool tie in at the very end, make sure you watch that!
4K definitely makes for better viewing in the dark scenes.

This version comes with 4K Ultra HD blu ray and blu ray, along with a digital copy! And was cheaper than the regular combo pack. There’s no image on the site but I took the risk and it was just like i expected! Cheaper and better value.
Film is cheesy but good for the jump scare addicts

This Onkyo is pretty sweet. It doesn’t replace my
Sony DN STR1080, but it does sound very detailed. Over all I’m satisfied with my purchase. I would recommend this for anyone who is wanting to have some serious home theater.

Its not one of the best in the series but it's still very creepy. A good inside story explaining the origin of this sinister demon. And correlation of the franchise. The acting/casting could of used some work no doubt but the special affects and detail are very well done and will still leave you in suspense and horror. Don't let the negative reviews sway you from watching this film. It's not that bad.

Don't get me wrong, the film is not bad. I feel the Conjuring 2 has been the best in the series so far. Annabelle Creation is a close second. I feel this movie really doesn't go into enough detail about who the Nun was. Maybe I was expecting too much after everything that's come before. This installment is coming in last place for me in the Conjuring universe of films. Again not a bad film just not up to par with previous efforts.

This is suppose to have taken place before the Conjuring so it was pretty intense. Great special effects and musical score. Scary!

Where as the Conjuring and Annabella movies relied on interesting storytelling and acting, I'm afraid this latest film runs out of steam and resorts to loud noises and visual special effects to generate scares. It's a bit of a let down compared to the other films in this series, but on the other hand this is still a good scary film.
