This extended version of The Patriot was a nice improvement to an already good movie. The Blu Ray high definition also was a pleasant improvement

Another bloody Mel Gibson movie... some scenes very graphic, but story of an American Revolutionary war fighter is solid.

This is the story of a man - a veteran of previous wars - who wants nothing to do with war any more. But another war - the American Revolution - comes to his home. British villainy costs him dearly, so he joins the fighting against the Redcoats, temporarily arming two of his younger sons to help him rescue his eldest, slated for execution at British hands. (Arming the youngsters - as was typical in those days - enraged some critics. Perhaps they're modern Tories?) This fine movie dramatizes the fact that many American Colonial patriots paid dearly to establish this great nation of ours, and we would do well to remember this today..

I had this on blu-ray, and it looked and sounded great, but I was always disappointed that the theatrical version wasn’t included. The Ultra blu-ray has changed all of that with the this version. Not only do you get the extended version of the film, but most of the extras from the original DVD and blu-ray have been included here as well. The 4K upgrade really shines with HDR with details that are just phenomenal. I thought the original blu-ray couldn’t get much better, but the remix with Dolby Atmos takes this film to a new level.
