I've always loved the first Predator movie, and when the third movie came out (Predators), I loved that one too, with the exception of the lead guy trying to make his voice sound like Batman. Being in the jungle setting, hunting whatevers hunting you, and running for your life, only to be wiped out by Predators, is the essence of a Predator movie to me. The second movie (Predator 2) has always felt like an outside movie to me, but only because it was based in the city, and because they picked an older person to have to fight a Predator hand to hand, knowing that if that had been a real fight, that he would've definitely lost. Why?? Because look how the Predator was throwing around Arnold in the first movie, but yet this old dude with hardly no muscle, is going toe to toe with one. That's never made since to me. And now this movie comes out. It looked to me that it was based in a small town, near a rock quarry on the outskirts of a wooded area, but definitely not a jungle. Overall, I thought it was good, but it just seemed like it was way too much playing around, to be a real Predator movie. I can understand a couple funny moments, but jokes all through the movie seemed a bit much. And their were two scenes with Predators that just should have been left out. One, was the Predator giving the thumbs up. Yeah, it was a joke, but no other Predator has made a joke up to this point. The second one was when the Big Predator spit. Look at their mouths!! Do they have lips??!!! How was he able to spit??!! I just felt that they shouldn't have tried to add that human characteristic to him, because it didn't really make since with the way their mouths are made. ...What about the Predators dog-like creature?? What became of it?? ...What about the girl?? Remember when the ship was flying away with the men on top of it?? That ship was a long way away from where they left the girl, but yet when it crashes, she pops up all of a sudden. How??!! How did she cover that distance that quick??!! I'm not saying the movie wasn't good, because it was good. Did it feel like a full on Predator movie, like 1 and 3?? No. I would put it along the line of being like part 2. Hopefully, the next movie will be like 1 and 3.

Possible spoilers. I’m not sure we needed yet another “Predator” movie but as long as they continue to sell tickets, they’ll keep making them. This edition ignores the other sequels for the most part…certainly the cross-over movies involving the battles against the “Aliens.” The first “Predator” movie – the one with Arnold – is certainly the best. One of the things it had going for it was the absence of a visual creature until well into the movie. It’s just the opposite here. The film opens with some kind of dogfight in space between Predator creatures. One of the Predator’s is shot down and crashes on, where else, Earth. Just as a military unit is about to rescue a couple of people from some bad guys. Nothing is really clear here about what’s going on. The leader of the Army unit is a sniper named Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook). He escapes the crash and the Predator but loses his team as well as the people he was trying to rescue. When Quinn returns home to his headquarters, his explanation is questioned but we know from the get go that his primary adversary, Traeger (a menacing Sterling K. Brown), knows he’s telling the truth. But we can’t be spreading the truth about an interstellar killing machine that hunts humans (and other species) for sport. So Quinn is being shipped off on a bus to a mental facility along with some other military types who are a bit psychologically challenged. They include Nebraska (Trevante Rhodes), Coyle (Keegan-Michael Key), Baxley (Thomas Jane), Lynch (Alfie Allen) and Nettles (Augusto Aguilera). The film was directed and co-written by Shane Black who played one of the hapless soldiers in the original ’87 film. It would appear he wanted to inject some humor into this version and he succeeds, almost to a fault. Some of the early scenes are laugh out loud funny, especially those involving Coyle and Baxley. In the more dramatic action sequences in the final act, the humor had been over-cooked. Joining this motley crew is a biologist/geneticist named Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) who proves she can fight and crack wise with the best of them. In the background is Quinn’s ex-wife, Emily (Yvonne Strahovski) and his young son Rory (Jacob Tremblay). Rory is borderline autistic, the kind that is picked on at school. A character we see often in movies and TV. But he’s also a wiz with electronics. Before dear old dad left the jungle and Predator, he managed to grab some Predator weapons and had them shipped back to his old house. Of course Rory opens the package and thinks it is some kind of video game. When he starts to play around with it, he sends a signal to the Predator about his location. Quinn, realizing his son is in jeopardy, escapes with his new friends from the bus. So now, the Predator, Traeger and Quinn and company make a bee-line for small town America. Another Predator also shows up and he’s bigger, stronger and meaner than the regulation Predator. It turns out that this bigger badder Pred has been playing around with alien species DNA, including human, to make it smarter and more adaptable. The smaller Predator evidently has sent something to the human population that will save them from his larger brothers. As convoluted as this all sounds, in the world of science fiction it somehow made sense to me. The screenplay has some big faults and there is no logic for much of the movie but it could have been a lot worse. As it is Black has a good sense for action (“Iron Man 3”). Unfortunately it starts and stops, sometimes to put another gag in. At the same time I was entertained. One thing remains constant in all of the Predator films. These alien creatures and near perfect killing machines and the “R” rating ensure plenty of splayed body parts.

I felt Predator was a very entertaining blockbuster film. This film has a more humorous bent than the previous one. I really did like Predators, but I prefer the tone of this film. It matches more of the over-the-top feel of the original and 2. They do add a few more jokes than those two, and a little too many of them have a frat bro/trying-to-be alpha dog mentality that can be a little exhausting. Still overall, it's pretty funny. There are some really impressive and violent fights. Current film technology is utilized to have the Predators do things they couldn't in previous films. The cast is all-around likable. Heck, I think this is the first time I found Olivia Munn fully utilized in a film. Admittedly, the pacing can be a little uneven at moments. There are points where the back-and-forth between characters could've been shorter and the scenes are rushed, including a death of a main character that's hit-and-miss. Also, the final scene setting up the sequel feels tacked-on and inorganic. Listen, if you're not interested in a humorous Predator film than this won't be for you. Personally, I went to be mindlessly entertained, and I was.

This movie is just different than the other entries in the Predator franchise. Let’s revisit quickly the ones before. Original Predator with Arnie is legendary, created one of the most awesome creatures on screen, could be considered as one of the best action films of all time, and has approx. a million quotable lines. Predator 2 is pretty good too although not up to the caliber of the first. Predators was a decent sequel, not as good as either of the first two, but not as bad as many would speculate. There were also two movies shared with aliens (AVP). Those were obviously spinoffs with the first not being too bad with an interesting story, but neither being too great at the same time. Now this new movie seems to have taken a comical tone. It is very obviously trying to be funny at nealry every turn. I think Shane Black knew he couldn’t do better than the original film so he went for something different and I’ll give him credit for that. Is it a great movie, no but it’s fine and enjoyable if you have an open mind. Just don’t expect too much and definitely don’t compare to the original film.

Watching this in theaters, I was WAY into the first half or so of the film. Once it hit that third act - the one famously reshot and re-edited and hounded on by studio execs - I started to lose interest and then the "superhero" tacked on, please make a sequel ending really left a sour taste in my mouth. As a huge fan of the franchise, and a mega fan of most of Shane Black's work, I gave it another go at home, and I'm glad I did. It's not the best Predator film you'll ever see, and I still hate that last scene, but the film is a real grower. It's not PC and doesn't pull any punches, there's a lot of old school 80's R-rated action, tropes and dialogue in here. I also appreciate the gang of guys and letting their characters develop some. Problematic but enjoyable once I let me initial reaction die down. Anyhow, the home video release, bat your personal opinion, looks fantastic in 4K HDR and the Dolby Atmos sound mix (which I also heard in my Dolby Cinema theatrical screening) COOKS, should give your system a nice workout. There's deleted scenes, and while there's nothing revealing about the original third act scenes, there are a couple scenes that bridge together some story elements better.

This was probably the most disappointing movie of 2018 for me. As a massive fan of the Predator franchise, this movie was a fairly colossal disappointment. With a very weak and broken story and a lackluster cast, The Predator really falls flat. If you’re a student of film, I would recommend looking into the plethora of production problems surrounding this movie to learn more about why this movie fell so flat. As a Home video release, I can’t really complain. The cover is cool and the special features are pretty decent. They unfortunately don’t go into any detail of the problems surrounding the production or how many times they had to keep re-writing the ending. I would say that if you’re a Predator fan and NEED to complete your collection (like I do), I would say it’s woeth adding to your movie shelf, but would say you can probably save yourself a few dollars and buy the regular blu ray since the 4K disc is just an upscale of the 1080p. But the improved sound quality is quite nice and this does go well with the 4K release of the original trilogy which came out in late 2018.

This movie series has always be fun to watch. Unfortunately, none of the more recent movies released in the series have ever been quite as successful as the first 2 movies. “In my opinion”... the lack of success should be primarily contributed to poor writing in general. But, if you’re a HUGE sci-if movie fan, such as myself...you’ll always find your way to a nearby movie theater to catch a matinee showing. And each time, my expectations are always HIGH going in..but, leaving out somewhat disappointed and thinking to myself “that movie could have been done better..if only the storyline and ending had been written BETTER”. Nevertheless, I remain hopeful the decision-makers behind the Predator franchise (or brand) will one day get...their loyal fan base and other moviegoers are STILL looking forward to the next BIG blockbuster release in this series.

The first Predator with Anrold Schwarzenegger is a classic, Predator 2 with Danny Glover is a great sequel, Predators is awesome. The Predator is just as good as its Precessors. I will never understand why so many people get themselves all worked up for the next "Predator" movie then turn around and hate it. These haters seem to think the next movie is going to win an Oscar. Really? A Predator movie? They are slasher/horror flicks nothing more. You go to see humans get ripped to shreds.

Being old enough to have watched the original movies from the beginning I can tell you that these aren't at all the same movies. It's not a reboot but they seem to be building on an idea introduced in the movie Predators and expanding on it. The ending leads you to think they are going to have more about this story arch. I was interested enough in the idea that I would like to see at least another movie exploring this. So go into it expecting a new style but unlike reboots it doesn't toss away everything established over the last two decades.

Despite what the critics say, the latest Predator movie is really fun to watch, especially on a lazy weekend afternoon. The Predator does not have the suspense of the original and that's why I gave it 4 stars. Yes, it's tough to come close to the original. Even so it is s a nice tribute to the original. Shane Black's effort to flesh out the characters of the rag tag team of ex-soldiers and a scientist who must stop the latest Predator threat really makes the film stand out. The Predator is fun escapist entertainment. Enjoy the fun ride.

As a fan of the Predator movie series, I will say that this was good but nothing beats the original, it’s just tough for producers to continually out do themselves. With that being said, I like how they interacted and blended current events into the script, kinda real time events as to what’s happening, where we are heading and what the outcome is going to be if we don’t straighten up and fly right soon? View it with realistic expectations, keeping in mind what installment your watching.

Movie was great, and had a lot of little call backs to the original movie. I liked the theme of the new Predator. The whole movie was good, until the final credit scene. I hated that. It just made the entire plot of the movie seem too cheesy. That and along with the fact that you are supposed to believe that a child learned how to read the predator language in a matter of a few days, is just ridiculous. Other than that, the movie was funny, the characters were great, and the new Predator was awesome.

I wanted to see everything that I missed in the theater. The little things the subtle things that give the movie more flavor. There were a few scenes that I left the theater going what actually happened, the Blu Ray makes it very clear. I would have liked to see what the alternate third act of the movie would have looked like but Fox did not include it on the Blu Ray. Overall the movie is entertaining, at times humorous and palatable. Another installment in the Predator franchise.

So I’m definitely not a fan of Predator movies in general but this one I loved!! I don’t really buy dvds anymore because everything is digital these days but this one I had to have. The typical action, gore and guts that you’d see in a Predator movie with a lot of humor thrown in. The “loonies” are the best part about this movie in my opinion. If you liked what Ryan Reynolds did for Blade 3 then you’ll definitely enjoy this one.

Lets be honest, I'm not gonna give a fair review. I'm biased in favor of the Predator franchise, it's one of my favorite franchises out there. Was this movie fantastic and jaw dropping, no, but it made me happy it was worth the purchase price to me. If you like the Predator franchise especially the original and the sequel with Danny Glover, then you will most likely enjoy this one too.

The Predator is one of the better sequels to the original Predator films. Plus it adds some new twists and story lines not used in any of the previous films. Great acting, excellent special effects and the film keep you on the edge of your seat. If you like Sifi action films or are just a fan of the Predator films you will not be disappointed by this film. I found this film to be a lot of fun watching and a wee bit don't look at that last scene. But I highly recommend this film. You will not be dissapointed!!!

Got right into the action, so good, buuuuuuut, too much time wasted on the "looney bin" squad of other military personnel that accompany our main character. Understandable that the writers want to show redemption of each, buuuuuut okay. Well written, acted, and how each character played of the next was nice. The end scene, for me, was suggestive of another direction, yet made a play that I wasn't expecting, and could go with... MAYBE!!!!

I was hesitant in buying this movie because of the poor reviews. However, I'm glad I did. While there were some very unbelievable events in the movie and some of the CGI was a little iffy on my UHD TV, the movie was exciting and fun. The storyline was cool and a nice departure from the same old, hunt them, kill them kinda movie. For a Predator fan, I'd recommend the movie. For a person who has very little experience with the movie series, I'd say stay away. It was entertaining!
