Remember how with each successive season of Lost, you were cured of your ability to know what the heck was going on, but in the most tantalizingly interesting way possible, so that by season six you'd long ago just thrown up your hands and decided to take the ride? Well, the Prisoner is like that, except that instead of six seasons, there are six episodes...with a season's worth of "WTF?!?!" in each one. And it does it without ever feeling rushed, overwrought, or like it's trying way too hard to fool you. The writing, acting, and cinematography in this show are amazing. There's not a single frame that isn't beautiful. There's not a single line of dialogue that isn't meaningful. The characters will reel you in and break your heart. Jim Caviezel's portrayal of Six is incredible, and also surprising in that I never expected to care about anyone else on the screen when Sir Ian McKellen was present. But Caviezel's Six demands attention, both within the story and of the audience. In fact the biggest draw of this show is the way the narrative draws you in, gets you on his side, and then hangs all his hopes and his grasp of reality on a single, fraying thread--and yours along with them. TL;DR: I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good psychological thriller and sci-fi mystery with a creepy vintage feel to it.
