I have to admit, when I realized that this was turning into a franchise, I wasn't all that excited, as the first home invasion styled entry in the series was a bit...frustrating at times? Just issues with character motivations, etc., but the two sequels have actually surpassed the original in every way, building quite a strange little world to tell a variety of stores in that I'm quite happy to check out each year. This third installment is by far the strongest of the three and can easily function as a stand-alone story if you're not familiar with the rest of the series. Recommended.

So after years of the Purge I finally decided to buy them all on blu-ray for a fun weekend watch. I didn't buy the 1st one as it was quickly labeled nothing more than a glorified home invasion film.. With such a great Idea of a yearly purge why on earth would you turn it into a home invasion flick? Anyhow, years later and we get The Purge Eection Year and so on... This is a freshly needed update to the 1st film. As I watch all my films on a 180" projected screen in my home theater it feels like watching this in an IMAX theater for the 1st time! The sound and picture quality on the film were fantastic. The story was engaging and I highly recommend this to others.... If added to you collection I see this as an annual watch... Maybe during election seasons as well. It was a lot of fun!

It isn't particularly subtle, but The Purge: Election Year's blend of potent jolts and timely themes still add up to a nastily effective diversion.

I bought this and the other two Purge films on Blu-ray before I had seen any of them, as I was quite sure I would enjoy them, and I wasn't wrong! I just finally watched all three of them pretty recently, and they were amazing! As for the Blu-ray for Election Year, I couldn't be happier with it, the movie looks excellent in HD! Also, the slipcover that came with this is quite unique, it has a different type of texture/finish, which I think is really cool. I would definitely recommend picking this up if you have the first two films on Blu-ray! Also, if you don't have any of them on Blu-ray, and their genre is something you might enjoy you should buy all three of them!

This film compounds on the down-town crazy atmosphere we get from the second film and were lacking in the first. Frank Grillo returns to establish himself as an action lead and shows he wasn't just a one-time cool guy. In election year the series sort of takes a political agenda turn, and there may be some moments that feel forced to signal what is right or what is wrong with the world. The first two films did not really take this turn, as they left it up to the viewer to decide. This film tends to give you a push in a certain direction but it is not entirely experience-ruining. I would still watch it again

I am a fan of this series and had to see The Purge: Election Year in theaters because the basis of the movie fascinates me. This movie is about all crime including murder being legal for 12 hours once a year. The subsequent terror that ensues is heart-pounding because you can easily envision yourself the victim of Purge Night. While this is not my favorite of the three movies from the series that came out, it is a good film worthy of being on a Horror Fans shelf of beloved movies!

I like how these movies evolved from HULK SMASH OTHER PEOPLE 9in essence) to a kinda smart political statement about the government scheming to wipe out the poor legally....if you liked the first two movies you will enjoy this third (and assumingly) final installation as well, yeah it gets cliche and preachy at some points, but it doesn't totally detract from the movie...just kinda check your brain at the door and go with it!

The purge franchise does not have the best writing or acting, but entertaining nonetheless. Cheesy fun!

I personally liked the 2nd movie the best, but this one was still a strong sequel. Ended the trilogy quite nicely. The story was solid, action does NOT disappoint, and Frank Grillo brings his usual awesomeness to the film. Villains were worth their weight in gold, supplying the heroes with plenty of obstacles. Well shot and edited as to stay true to the original. Highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of either the first 2.

The production team of this flick really knows what buttons to push. Unlike in many films of this type, they give us likable characters whom we care about, and then place them in escalating levels of danger. The concept of The Purge is a clever one and opens up all kinds of possibilities for thrills and excitement. I saw this on DVD, but bet a theater viewing would be an emotionally charged group experience.

The first purge movie was alarming because, as scary as it is, you know this could possibly happen in real life. Hopefully not in my future. The concept that the government could rid of poor people and homeless people by allowing murder one night a year. The 2nd Purge film continued that theme, building on characters a bit more. Finally, with this film, the final Purge movie, we see how people have had enough of it, and with the help of one political ally, hope is on the horizon for the purge to end. Great film series. Not a bad one in the three.

If you like action and suspense I say buy it story was ok but really liked the first one my opinion

A good addition to this franchise. The movie was fairly good, it has a slightly different feel from the 1st Purge and Purge: Anarchy, but still has the main theme in place. I rate this as good as the others, I don't think it is better or worse than the previous 2 movies. If you liked the previous 2, I am fairly sure you will like this one as well. For the price I paid, it was well worth it!

My platform if I become president is to abolish the purge. But not if you don't survive it first.

I enjoyed the 1st and 2nd installments of the Purge. This one will keep your heart pumping throughout. Some of the scenes are really gory, but overall pretty much of what you already saw in the previous movies. The story centers around the election and parties want to either end the purge or keep it going. There is an underground movement to end it which makes this movie exciting and fun.

I wasn't really expecting a great movie, but this turned out to be fairly good. It was suspenseful as the previous two but I feel this had a better and stronger storyline to it. I am glad they brought the lead character back from the previous "Anarchy" installment. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. If you liked the previous two, then you should like this one.

Great action movie. I liked the actors and actresses that were in the movie. Action movies of this type are not my favorite but my son likes them and that is the reason we purchased it. He really liked it and has watched it several more times with his friends. It was good enough that I was interested enough in the plot to watch the entire movie from start to finish.

I like the purge movies as a whole. It's a crazy idea, and I like that each installment is a new cast with a different point of view or completely different story. This was a good way to bring the politics and conspiracies into the Purge universe. I hope they keep producing these movies, it's a simple formula, but they always end up being a fun ride of crazy.
