A Little Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sequel was ok but not enough action. No where near as good as the 1st one. Appeared to change the storyline from the 1st movie altogether.

A masterpiece of action cinema
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Writer/Director/Editor Gareth Evans has accomplished the impossible and not only topped the original in every way, which was an exceptional film in it's own right, but created one of the greatest action films of all time in the process. The story has expanded in scope and the story is multi-layered and involving in it's gripping crime narrative, the cinematography is amazing, the performances are uniformly outstanding (Arifin Putra's turn as Uco, the Indonesian mob head's impatient son, is award-worthy). And the action sequences, from the first to the last, are some of the most head-spinningly shot and choreographed scenes yet put to film. The second half in particular has at least three set-pieces--the car chase through Jakarta streets, the subway melee involving a deaf-mute assassin called Hammer Girl, and the legendary final 10 minute one-on-one fight between Iko Uwais and Cecep Arif Rahman in a restaurant kitchen--that will guarantee the rewind button will be exhausted and that will go down in the cinema hall-of-fame. Evans and his cinematographers Matt Flannery and Dimas Imam Subhono make the cameras characters and participants in the action and create shooting techniques that I guarantee you've never seen before (just wait until you see the long take camera pass during the car chase). They create cinema magic in front of ours eyes. After watching this, Evans must be considered the best action director of his generation. This is what cinema is all about.

DON'T EVEN LOOK AT REVIEWS FOR RAID II
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw Raid I and saw a couple of early reviews on this one, Raid II. The reviews were way high and way low so I layed off on getting it. Broke down and bought it at Best Buy (good price) yesterday and still watching it. How in the world the film dudes and writers put this one together on the screen is beyond me. Raid II should be looking at Oscars - no joke. My review: the best 'martial arts' movie ever filmed. At a lot of points in the movie your jaw will drop and you will say OMG, did I just see that - rewind. Believable - very Acting - could not be better Camera Shots - a 10 Violent - yes but very bearable Comparable to - nothing I have ever seen This movie blew me away and continues because I am still watching it. Why did I write this review? To let folks who are into this category "Godfather" of films that this is one awesome movie that will probably end up in the top 500 IMBT list.

Best Martial Arts Film
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Raid 2 is without a doubt my favorite martial arts film ever created. When it was announced, I was intrigued, but did not think it could top the original. After seeing it in theaters, this was one of the best theatrical experiences in recent years. While the first film was one giant fight scene, the second is truly a complete package. Everything from the story to the acting was fantastic. Did I mention the fight scenes? Out of this world amazing. While it's tough to pick a favorite, I would have to go with the Kitchen fight and car chase as marquee moments. Do yourself a favor and watch this immediately. You won't regret it.

A barebones release of a great movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie itself is great, easiily one of the best action movies ever made. The fight scenes are incredible, the cinematography is jaw dropping and the soundtrack is booming. The plot can get a little messy at times due to it's crime drama/political nature but it doesn't detract from the action at all and lends itself to repeat viewings. A+ all around. The blu-ray itself is incredibly barebones, with a simple static menu screen and few extras. It's an okay package but after the excellent blu-ray release of the original Raid I was expecting a bit more.

One of the Best Action Films in Years...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Following the events of the first film, The Raid 2 ties up a few loose ends and proceeds forward with a far more grand vision than it's humble predecessor. Spanning two and half hours this out does the first film with a high body count, blood and guts galore and some real tension. Don't let the subtitles scare you away, this film is seriously satisfying, offering better action than The Expendables while being well crafted enough to come off like Indonesia's version of The Godfather.

Best Action Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you love action movies, this is definitely a movie that you shouldn't pass up. One of the greatest action movies ever made. You should certainly watch the first one. You would think that sequels aren't able to improve on everything that the preceding entry was, but this movie did that and THEN SOME. SEE THIS MOVIE! You won't regret it in the slightest.

WOW
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first Raid was awesome. Tons of action and fight scenes. Raid 2...10x the action, 10x the fight scenes. If you are a fan of the action/ martial arts genre you have to see this film. As with most martial arts films you don't have to see this first film to enjoy this one.

Stunning follow-up to "The Raid"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."The Raid 2" is one of the better sequels ever made. Building on the successes of the first film, it expertly ups the ante in every way, drawing the viewer into a much larger story. Highly recommended, but not for the faint of heart!

Wow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you liked the first Raid - heck, if you just enjoy amazing fight scenes, then this is an excellent purchase. It definitely focuses more on story this time, though, more so than the last movie.

Waiting for The Raid 3!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picking up right after The Raid 1, the sequel surpasses it in every way (storyline/brutality/locations/budget). The best martial arts film ever made!

More Outrageousness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Raid 2 continues the outrageous action set pieces from the original Raid: Redemption. It appears other Asian nations besides the established ones are now making their mark on action cinema.
