Anthony Quinn is truly a gifted actor. He has played innumerable character roles from a simple Mexican peasant to a desert Arab chieftain and every conceivable culture in between. I think, at last count, he has portrayed in excess of 26 different nationalities over his fascinating acting career. His ability to assume the divergent mannerisms and ethnicities with such ease and believability in each varied role, is a tribute to his acting skill. His understanding of these varied people allows him to portray real and believable characters, in every sense of the word which helps to hold and continue our interest throughout his films to their conclusion. "The Savage Innocents" is an unexpected treat and a vivid and uncompromising look into a world we would not have experienced if it were not for Anthony Quinn. You will be amazed at mankind's adaptability as a survivor and you will enjoy this rare look at the people who live in the land of ice and constant exposure to the dangers of survival in the most unforgiving of climates on the face of our earth.

So so movie considering the talent involved but I had to get it seeing as it's an Olive release. Great small bluray company. Check out their titles.

Great Nicholas Ray Film

Nicholas Ray's Eskimo epic receives a welcome blu-ray disc release. Sadly, it looks to have been transferred from a somewhat dated master with limited restoration and the release contains no extras. The film is very much worth seeing all the same.
Cautiously recommended.
