I am going to do two reviews. One is for the CD/track list, the second is for the audio fidelity for those people who are audiophiles like myself.
Track List/Song Selection review:
I am a big John Mayer fan, but not so much of his recent albums that favored a country approach. This album got my attention as it was produced with the Continum crew, arguably his best album. The result is a return to form for John Mayer that is my favorite album since Continum, and personally I enjoy this more than some of his note worthy albums like "heavier things." Half this album are bluesy songs that are refreshing in my opinion. There are a couple quieter songs that aren't country, but more reminiscent to songs like "Daughters" or "Stop this train" in pace. Finally there are a couple country sounding tracks here, but honestly I find them to be more catchy than his previous albums. Truthfully I don't find a stinker here in the entire album, and that is not something that happens everyday.
Audio Fidelity review:
This album is not only solid in track list, if you are a John Mayer fan, but the audio-fidelity is shockingly good. Continum in my opinion is he best recorded CD, and second best vinyl he has produced prior to this. "The Search For Everything" is something I own on CD and vinyl. On both formats they are now the best recorded John Mayer Albums to date. I am predominately a vinyl guy, but this CD is extremely well done. To be clear this is not something I say very often of CD unless you are going back to bands that take pride in their sound quality (example being Dire Straits). The sound stage for this CD is very 3D sounding, and the various instruments have pin point accuracy to my ears. The sound is a smidge bit on the bright side, but it is by no means to being close to over the top (something I am sensitive too). There is no curtain effect over the sound stage, and it has a liveness to its sound quality. Hands down this is a well recorded CD, and I am happy to see some still take pride in their sound quality. I really can't find much to fault in the quality of this CD. To find a better sounding CD you'll have to go Dire Straits, Janis Ian, and the well known suspects that made audio fidelity part of their craft. One thing worth noting for this album is if you have a good turntable set up, the vinyl is truly top notch. I preordered mine, and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a 45rpm. Considering how good the CD sounded, seeing 45rpm was a good sign. I have a pretty solid vinyl collection, and am a huge Mofi fan boy. That being said, John Mayers "The Search for Everything" vinyl pressing bests more than a few of my mobile fidelity pressings. It takes the 3D sound stage, crisp and live sound stage to a whole new level.

I pretty much like anything John Mayer does, old and new, and this album doesn't disappoint. The CD sounds great as well, but audiophile types may find the bass on this CD a bit more "boomy" than his other releases.

Can honestly say there isn't a single song worth skipping over on the entire album. From the smooth blues sounds to the more melodic tunes, Mayer has managed to put together easily his best overall album since Continuum. The song writing is absolutely superb and polished to say the very least. Highly recommend this album to anyone who's ever enjoyed a John Mayer tune. You won't be disappointed.

A little bluesy. A little rock. A little heartfelt ballad.
A lot of emotion.
You could tell the head space he was in when he wrote it, which is easily transferable to making each song on this album your a story of your own life.
PS - if Rosie was instrumental only, that would be my jam!

John mayer returns with some of his best song writing to date. You either love or hate this guy, Im in the former group. As a guitar player, this is some of his coolest work. He got a bad rep after his first couple poppy cd's, and rightfully so... but he got much better with age. Give him a try

Always look forward to new music from Mayer. Not as strong as his last two albums but some cool tracks. One is super 70's and one is total country. I kind of wish he would get off this country kick.

In the Blood became a personal favorite. Good album then again I’ve been a long time JM fan so it might come off as bias. It’ll never be Like Continuum or Inside wants out though it’s a sign of him evolving as a artist.

Though I have only have had a few listens to this point, I would say that this is a solid effort from John Mayer. Much better than his last album, but still short of his ultimate brilliance of his best album Continuum.

John Mayer's music is some of the most soothing music on the market. And with his latest CD, he tests the waters of Country music. Is it for everyone? Probably not, but if you're a John Mayer fan...you'll love it!

Really enjoying this new one. It marks a return to the Continuum style with lots of Blues and Soul, and as always, his top notch guitar playing. If you enjoy this side of Mayer, you are sure to enjoy this release!

John Master's latest is a grove filled album with witty lyrics and tight rhythm section. Another co-produced album from John and Steve Jordan on drums. Note worthy to mention Pino Palladino on bass...this album is excellent!

This is a very smooth and laid back album. It falls in line with his past efforts and draws from everything he's done in the past. There's a little of everything here. Definitely worth a listen.

If you're a fan of his, this should complete, (until the next album), your John Mayer catalog. It's Bluesy. It's Rock. It's even got John and a piano.
Just buy it... you won't be disappointed.

I have been listening to John Mayer music for a number of years now, and he has so many hits that just blow you away with opening riffs or even great live drum openings... but the songs on this latest album become almost forgettable after one or two listens. For me, this seemed like he was fulfilling a recording contract more than writing as a labor of love - something his earlier albums practically never did. You can find a dud on pretty much any album, but I'm having trouble finding a stand-out on this one!

This new CD fits right in with all John Mayer's CD's. He sounds
fantastic with great tunes and guitar playing. I knew the CD was
gonna be excellent but it has even surpassed what i thought.

Not a lot pop fare here, but quite a few just good solid songs. I was hoping for more songs like Helpless, but still a good CD nonetheless.

Probably his best in a decade. Deeply personal lyrics as well. He has reunited with Steve Jordan on Drums and Pino Paladino on bass and has rarely sounded better!
