The story is very dark and sad but I enjoy these types of animated features where it doesn't always have to hold your hand or involve a sing along. The voice acting is great and the story is intriguing with mystery. Characters are pretty cool and well designed. Animation, even though old, is great and has that gritty feel if you're into that old type animations.

Don Bluth (All dogs go to Heaven, An American Tail) used to work at disney in their animated department and left to go out on his own and this was his first effort. a story of a single mother mouse and her family, who's youngest song is dying, to get medicine for him and to move their home before the plow at the nearby farm, destroys it. on her journey she meets a clumsy bird, a scary wise owl and discovers the secret lair of the rats of nihm. wonderfully animated and such a great story and very ambitious for a non disney movie at the time. highly recommended.

This film will forever have a special & unique place in my heart. I grew up watching it as a kid & I simply had to add it to my collection. I bought it on Blu-ray because the 4K version was not available/did not exist at the time of purchase. But once it does drop, I'll buy that version as well - no question.

This is a great film. My only dismay is that the "Blu Ray" is no real better than the DVD. I assume that the original print of the film has been lost as the Blu Ray is grainy and I expected it to be sharp and clear like when the film was first released. Sad to say it is not ... but .. if you haven't seen it, make sure that you do.

Digitally remastered on a nosalgic classic. Love how this movie brings back my childhood. I love the storyline

Secret of Nimh was located at the front of the store in a barrel of other DVDs. As I searched through the barrel, I came upon Secret of Nimh. This movie brings back a lot of memories. This movie was loved by my Mother. Therefore when I saw I HAD to ale the purchase. This was a great purchase for me. Thank you Best Buy.

Awesome cartoon. A must have for old school fans of Classic cartoons. Great cartoon to introduce any kid from any generation. Highly recommended.

I remember watching this movie as a kid and I liked it very much then so when I saw it on sale for 5 dollars on bluray, I wasn't gonna pass it up since I got my nieces and nephews coming over every now and then and they could use something to watch... A good story and something to keep them occupied :)

This was a classic animated movie from the 80's! I consider it to be one of the greatest animated movies of all time. It still holds up even now

Great Hi-def treatment of a masterpiece! This DVD is a worth every penny!

A great classic movie with a very good story line that still makes it a great movie even today.

I saw this movie on theaters and have loved it ever since. Might be a little scary at times for younger kids but great for a little older kids. The blu-ray transfer is no better than the DVD which isn't too good to begin with. But I figure the scratch resistance means it won't have to be replaced any time soon. Maybe some day this movie will get the blu-ray special edition that it deserves but until then, this will have to do. At least the price is not much more than the DVD anyway.

Excellent family movie that can be enjoyed by both young and those of is that are, *older.* Reminds me of being home!

I'm watching this now with my daughter many years after I watched it as a child. In my opinion, a great adaptation of the book.
