This is an extraordinary action series with a hint of a sci-fi element. But it's filled with believability because it actually can happen. Detective James Ellison developed heightened senses, (hearing, sight, touch, smell, etc), that gives him the advantage when it comes to fighting crime. He receives help from his guide, Blair Sandburg, who teaches Jim how to control and handle his senses. And these two characters are not perfect. They make mistakes and get into disagreements, which makes the show enjoyable. They are complete opposites of one another, yet they are forced to work with each other. But as the show develops, you see that they really care about each other. It's a buddy show. The acting is great. The characters of Jim, Blair, and Simon are well casted. They're very unique from other actors. If you watch this show, know that you are experiencing a cult series with a huge fan base. And these fans are great people and this is a show deserving of a huge fan base. Unfortunately, this DVD comes with absolutely no extras.

I loved this show when it was originally on UPN, and was very glad that they released the first season on DVD. It's basically a cop show with a bit of a sci-fi element: a police detective must control and use his hyperactive senses to help him solve cases. I though the show was extremely interesting and well-written. Though there are no special features, the episodes are good quality and I sincerely hope they will put out the second and third seasons, though it's been at least a year or two since the first season was released so I am (sadly) a bit wary.

The Sentinel was a great show. Unfurtunatly, it was cancelled too soon. The action is great and the story line is interesting. I hope they release season 2-4 soon.
