This movie is great for fans of horror movies or shark movies. Blake Lively does a great acting job and she is not hard on the eyes either. Yes there are moments where the CGI shark looks like CGI, but that is limited. Yes there are parts where you scratch your head and say that sharks don't act that way, but you know that going into the movie. That's what makes it exilerating. In Jaws, you know the shark stalks the people. The same is true in this movie.

My wife wanted to see this movie so of course we picked it up in 4k. Visually the movie is absolutely stunning, the shark has a hint of CGI but otherwise it's one of the better looking 4k movies we've watched. The action is a little slow at times but doesn't drag to the point of being bothersome. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and would watch it again.

A young woman who loses her mother from cancer, takes a break from life and medical school. She decides to do some traveling and ends up on a beach her mother traveled to when she was young. She surfs and has the best waves ever. Then when two other surfers leave, trouble hits and that means shark attack. Good thing she has medical knowledge, but is that enough to save herself? Lots of scary moments and I screamed a few times, myself.

Shark films are more or less a dime a dozen with the clear benchmark being sent by Jaws in 1975. For what it is, this movie is actually quite entertaining. In fact, the first two thirds are actually really intense and smartly executed. Only at the end do you things get silly and fall victim to Hollywood ending tropes but nevertheless, it's a fun ride.

Since Jaws there have been no great shark movies IMHO, this is the best one to come along since. It's intense, well written, great cinematography etc...looks awesome in 4K and Blake Lively is not hard to look at...win/win PS I liked Jaws 2 and I tried so hard to like Jaws 3...I mean I really wanted to like Jaws 3 in the worst way...to me, this is the best shark movie since Jaws...and it has great intensity if you enjoy that

This film is, overall, a decent entry in the whole 'sharks vs. people' genre. The subplot involving Blake Lively's character & finding herself by experiencing her mother's journey was clichéd and predictable. But seeing her use the knowledge she gained, as well as her natural smarts & instincts against her foe (HINT: It's a SHARK!) was entertaining.

I've always liked Blake Lively, so it's no surprise that this would be a purchase from me. The big surprise was how fun this movie was! It's not Jaws by a long stretch, but it still keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole hour and a half. Beautiful picture quality throughout, excellent sound. The blu-ray version I purchased also came with a really cool lenticular slipcover that blu-ray collectors are usually after.

This is a surprise film because your thought is another Jaws film. This film showed a person in a bad situation and never giving up. Even though the way the shark is conqueered is not feasible, it works and you can forgive the writers for it. I was very happy I had purchased it and would recommend this. A good over evil story.

Not a whole lot new to see here, but the film is pulled off nicely.

At first I was skeptical of this movie because I seen the preview at the movie and it did not get my attention. Boy was I wrong, you will be at the edge of your seat when you watch this movie. In 4k with a true 4k TV that shows well you will get the full effect of how good this movie really is, I mean with the shark and of course the beautiful blonde you will not want to miss the action pack thriller.

I was excited when I found out this movie was shot in 3.4k and 4K. Then I found out it was mastered in 2k for the UHD disc. Complete let down. With that being said, with the addition of HDR and atoms this is a high quality upscale. The movie it self was okay, although I was very impressed with Blake Lively's acting in this role.

Can not believe it has been over 45 years since Jaws came out and scared the willies out of a generation of beach goers. This one is totally updated and features some beautiful scenic views and great photography. The story is a simple story of survival but dramatically played out with some excellent special effects.

In terms of shark attack movies, this is one of the better ones out there. If you can accept the fact that nothing will beat Jaws, then you'll find the thrills in this movie will keep you on edge. Just be patient with the first 20 minutes. Not much happens then, but once the shark attacks, it's good entertainment.

With a fresh modern take on classic shark movies I originally bought this movie eagerly wanting to trash it online ... but somehow I ended up really liking the movie and appreciating the amount of CGI work that was put into the development of the shark. This is great movie with detailed character development, suspenseful action sequences and logical storyline progression.

The Shallows, was a movie that I had heard about from friends. They really liked it so I thought I would give it a try. I did and I was not disappointed! This is one of the best thrillers I have seen, having to do with sharks in quite awhile. You should give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

Overall a very good movie. Killer shark story has been done quite a few times, but this is still an interesting take. Definitely an interesting thriller movie. Visually great, especially the underwater and wide angle shots. There is a difference from Blu-Ray to 4K with this movie.

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought a movie about someone being trapped on a rock for 90 minutes was going to be bad but this movie was actually good. Sure some scenes were a little far fetched but don't all movies do that these days? I don't go to the movies to point out what couldn't happen.. I go to be entertained and this movie was entertaining.

Best shark movie in a long time. May not be the classic that Jaws is but certainly a great movie. Be ready to be tense with this vicious great white shark Blake Lively brings a great performance with her character. After the movie ends, I asked, are you sure you are going back to the water?
