Real life cautionary tale

No matter how bad you feel this film will make you feel much better about yourself. Shane MacGowan is one of the most brilliant songwriters of the last 30 years, but you wouldn't know it by looking at this drunken shell of a man. This is a depressing look at a man who has destroyed himself with booze. He literally drinks straight from a bottle of gin throughout the movie. You also get a look at his enabler wife who seems to think his alcoholism is cute and still seems to be starstruck despite having been married to him for years. In spite of this I really like the film. I would have preferred a a documentary on the Pogues and their history, but this really just focused on Shane.
