If you're anything like me, you've double and triple dipped on every release of The Shining that looks like it's a step up in quality. As of this writing, this is just that. A perfect movie with a perfect packaging and presentation in quality. Honestly, the standard 4K packaging is amazing as well. Warner Bros. really delivered for the 4K arrival.

With a beautiful steelcase, reflecting the terrible and glorious message within, you can do no wrong by putting this on your shelf. It’s beautiful, in all regards; the remastering provides new details previously missed and a new level of immersion which could either very well please Kubrick or very much upset him. Depends on the day... You want this steelbook.

Loved watching this movie again in 4K UHD! One of the top 5 best horror movies of all time! See it in all of it's glory bigger and better than ever and crystal clear plus the awesome music in 4K UHD as well! "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", redrum" just totally awesome! My advice, go out and buy it, you won't be disappointed.

One of the greatest films of all time in one of the best 4k restorations I've ever seen. Sad that there's no original lossless mono or Atmos audio options, and the OAR is slightly blown out to 1.78:1, but for the most part it's a stellar WB release. The included Blu Ray is also of the new 4k restoration and looks great too.

I loved that it came with the 4K, Blu-Ray, and Digital HD. I loved the artwork and the deep cuts within the artwork. The bright yellow is refreshing based on the typical colors used for Blu-rays/steelbooks, movie posters, etc. Gift for my girlfriend. She loves this movie as do I. I might get one for my collection.

All the reviews of this movie praised how much better the 4k remaster is and wow, I was beyond impressed by the visual quality that it now has and appreciate that despite the higher quality it still looked and feel that make the shining such a great movie. I highly recommend this to anyone who still buys 4k dvds

The restoration that WB completed on The Shining really is quite remarkable. It looks wonderful! Colors and detail are first rate. This is probably the best I’ve seen any catalogue title look. Additionally the sound design is dynamic and immersive at times. The music really escalates the tension. Highly recommended!

The great Stanley Kubrick only made one horror movie, THE SHINING. And this 4K version is the best way to watch it and listen to it. Creepy, spooky, with great use of music, steadicam shots, and Jack Nicholson. I saw it in theaters when it opened back in 1980, and have been watching it every other year ever since.

The shining is already a classic film, but now it's been updated in 4K w HDR. For those that care about 4K and HDR, this is a great transfer. The picture is sharp, and the colors pop. I don't have a Dolby atmos sound system but the sound is terrific on 5.1 surround. If you're a fan, it's worth the pickup!

If you're a fan this version is crisp and vibrant. It really captures all the magic, tension and horror that Kubrick poured into this film. If you've never seen it then you are in for a treat. This release has several amazing documentaries on the making of this masterpiece. Check out all the "Redrum!"

The Shining is one of the best horror movies ever, even after 40 years later. The remastered 4K picture is framed at 1.78:1 and looks spectacular. Though not perfect, this is by far the best this movie has ever looked. If you are a fan of this movie, look no further than this new 4K release.

I'll talk about the quality of the 4k for this review as the movie is a classic and won't bore you with a long summary of that. The picture quality for 4k is amazing in the fact of how old the original film actually is. It's crisp and clean, if you want the 4k version, don't hesitate to buy it.

Being a long time Constant Reader / Stephen King fan, I had to pick this up and add it to my SK collection. As usual, the 4K format is a spectacular sight to see and enjoy! The package comes with the 4K UHD Blu-ray, along with a Blu-ray HD disc and a code to download and watch the film digitally.

Stephen King may not be a fan of this particular adaptation of his novel, but as a Stanley Kubrick film, it’s an absolute blast! “The Shining” still holds up as a wonder piece of supernatural fiction and as a film that follows a man who is driven insane by dark forces within an ominous hotel.

This is my favorite horror film of all time and one of my favorite movies in general and boy did Warner come through with this 4K Blu-ray. It looks AMAZING. Only regret is they didn’t do a Dolby Atmos remix of the audio. But otherwise, this is a perfect release. And the steelbook is gorgeous.

I was really surprised by the upgrade of the 4k hdr version over the original blu ray. Totally worth the premium.

but as far back as i can remember its a creepy film, the score is the best thing that i can remember about this movie. bringing it back brought back a lot of nostalgia. i never owned this movie but now thats out on 4k i bought it and looks better than i can remember, for an old movie

Warner Bros has knocked some of their catalogue 4K transfers out of the park - rather, the works of Stanley Kubrick. They've nailed it with both "The Shining" and "2001: A Space Odyssey," with the former making it worth the upgrade to revisit the Overlook Hotel all over again.

The 4K release of The Shining is excellent. Of course let the movie is a classic and widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best Stephen King adaptations. I’m also a collector of movies and this steelbook is quite fetching in its choice for cover art. Highly recommended.
