Love this movie. It is a hidden gem that I remember watching when I was younger. A young john candy is in this as well. This movie doesn’t disappoint.

I think this was a fairly low budget movie with a few well known stars maybe early in their careers. However, the film was excellent! The plot was fantastic and pulled off as well as could be expected. I have watched the movie over many times and will watch it again!

Frequently intelligent and occasionally shocking, this heist film is a phenomenal breath of fresh air in a genre that has become overly reliant on sleek editing and false cleverness.
The Silent Partner derives its thrills from believable, cunningly self-motivated characters. The plot comes courtesy of Curtis Hanson (who would go on to direct L.A. Confidential), and it's carried out with unassuming skill by Elliott Gould, hitting a career apex, and Christopher Plummer, shattering his Von Trapp trappings. Supporting actresses Susannah York and Celine Lomez also provide vital contributions.
Despite a lack of special features, this DVD's Audio and Video treat the film well. Treat yourself well by giving this intense battle of wits a shot.

This buried treasure is worth the viewing even with your fancy 21st century movie perspective. Why? Because it a fun romp that entertains more than you'd think it would. After all, movie-making styles change with the times--but you can never short-change a good action/heist flick that has a dynamite plot! It's not a comedy, but you can just know that Gould, Plummer and York enjoyed making this one!. Look for a young John Candy too.
