Even though I think this album is pretty good, I'm not sure a first time NIN listener would appreciate this album's music. Yet, anyone exposed to NIN's music should buy this album. The tracks are all pretty good, especially the track "Discipline". As for Trent's talents as a musician, I believe that they're demonstrated very well on this album. But, you may need to be experienced by all of his other albums to truly appreciate this album. So, if you're already a NIN fan, then you should buy this album. If you're new to NIN, buy some of the older albums and this one.

An Amazing Album

This album kicks off with an amazing is a great mix of NIN's unique sound. Standout tracks include Demon Seed, Head Down, Lights in the Sky, and 1,000,000. But far surpassing any of those tracks is Echoplex which has instantly become a huge fan favorite. Disk 2 of this album comes with 5 videos of Slip tracks being played Live as NIN prepared for their US tour.
This is a great NIN album and an amazing achievement since Trent Reznor's last album was released only month before The Slip. If you've never listened to NIN, this is a great album that represents what the NIN catalogue features. Only thing that could make it better is if it were free......
Which it is at NIN.com. So feel free to head over to NIN.com and check out this album. If you like what you hear definitely pick up this album.

Disappointed

I was excited to see that Trent Reznor released a new album, even after the disappointing "With Teeth," and "Year Zero." Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived. "Lights In The Sky" is quite possibly Trent Reznor's most touching, heart-felt, painful song since "Something I Can Never Have," but sadly, there is not much more to get excited about when it comes to "The Slip." The rest of the album manages to sound like a techno album with rock influences instead of the other way around. As much as it pains me to say it, it's time to give Nine Inch Nails "The Slip."
