Blu-ray disk worked fine. But bad description of disk on Best Buy website; according to website there should be a DVD disk and Blue-ray disk in package - there is only a blue-ray disk.

What words can be said about "The Sound of Music" that would adequately describe it in all its radiant, rich, singing and dancing glory? I could scarcely add anything new or original to the 50 years worth of accolades and reviews that have praised this wonderful film. Just suffice it to say that I've been watching it ever since my grandmother introduced me to it when I was a child, and throughout the repeated viewings in all the ensuing years it has never lost its power and thrall over me. To watch "The Sound of Music" is to surrender yourself and return to a time and place, a bygone era of filmmaking that is long gone. It's like receiving a big, comforting embrace over and over from Maria herself.

In a day and age where films are infused with massive amounts of CGI to save money, its nice to be able to fall back on the classic films and the style with which they were made to regain perspective on the visual splendor of old Hollywood. The Sound of Music blends the rhythmically lyrical power of a musical with the basis of a true to life event for a grandiose presentation of entertainment that has lasted the test of time in the annals of enduring and watchable films that holds its own as one of the most endearing classics of all time.

I love GOOD classic movies. This is a great movie with beautiful music and a great story.

This movie is truly a classic musical, The movie contains some of the most recognizable songs that have ever been written for a movie musical, such as, "My Favorite Things", "Climb Every Mountain", "I am 16 going on 17" and of course, "The Sound of Music". As in all Blu-ray movies the beautiful interior and exterior shots are only enhanced in this color format. A classic movie that all people should see at least once in their life.

We have been watching this movie on VHS since time immemorial. We finally buckled down and got the Blu-ray. What a difference! I am not always happy with Blu-ray purchases, because some companies (aka Disney) often add extra scenes that we simply don't want. This Sound of Music disc is the original movie, but in gorgeous clarity, both sound and video. And you don't even have to switch tapes! Plus, you get the special feature of Julie Andrews back in Vienna. Worth every penny!

I bought this Blu-ray because of the Ultraviolet digital license. I like to watch movies while I travel. Just for that I would have given it 5 stars, the movie is that good. I had a free afternoon at home and decided to watch it on the big screen and check out some of the extras. They were great. If you haven't seen this musical, you're missing out. If you have then good for you, but check out the extras. It's great to know that this was at least based on a true story.

For the price, its great! You get a classic movie with even a digital copy!

If you have an appreciation of music, enjoy beautiful scenery, and looking for clean story lines, I highly recommend this movie. This movie is based on a true story, although like most movie scripts it has some alterations from the original true story. The only disappointment I had with this blue-ray DVD was there was defective audio problem and I had to return it to Best Buy to exchange it for another blue-ray DVD.
