WOW! WOW! WOW! This was SO GOOD! Loved the live performances and the wide variety of music/musicians. Loved it all! FANTASTIC show! My daughter and I loved it! We can't wait to listen to both commentaries. Definitely worth the money and then some. We will be watching this again and again and again.

    IT'S ABOUT TIME.....................

Dick Clark gives us what may be his parting gift to rock fans after a forty six year wait, the legendary TAMI Show. Recorded on a precursor to high definition video in1964, it has never been legitimately released for home viewing in its complete form until now. Directed by Steve Binder, whose audio commentary track is invaluable in understanding the technical hurdles of 1960's TV and more importantly his discourse on the place that the TAMI Show occupies in not only music history but more importantly its position in social history as a document of racial inclusion in its billing, cast and audience just weeks after the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The appearances by such music legends as the Rolling Stones,Chuck Berry,Smokey Robinson,Marvin Gaye,The Supremes and the restoration of the Beach Boys set nonwithstanding, the viewer is given a rare opportunity to witness the precise moment a crossover star is made in seeing the set handed in by James Brown playing to his first significantly mixed audience and seeemingly pulls out all the stops.James gives the audience and viewer EXACTLY what he was doing night after night in chitlin' circuit theatres all across the USA.It is not for nothing that his TAMI Show performance is considered possibly the greatest "rock" performance ever filmed .Anyone who wants to see where Michael Jackson learned those "moves" need look no further than here. Rock music would change rapidly from the relatively innocent days of 1964 and only one other concert film, the "BIG TNT Show" from 1965 as yet to be released would chronicle the old time package shows that people like Dick Clark pioneered in the late fifties and early sixties. The TAMI Show is absolutely worth the almost fifty year wait, living up to every claim that has ever been made for it.

The Grandfather of Rock Concert Videos

I've been waiting for this video to appear on DVD for decades. This show and all of it's are legendary if not iconic. And that certainly goes for James Brown's performance.Let me tell you when I first saw this movie in the theater I was no James Brown fan but when I left that movie theater he had made me a believer. Many people the world over are still talking it.Even Sting of the Police sings about it.But the whole show for its time is beyond its era for the cinematography (sharpness, closeness and angles). Not to mention the dancers and their choreography added great visuality to the entire production to say the lest.Mary Wilson of the Supremes commented years later that during their performance the dancers got so close to her that it made her nervous and she wasn't sure just what was going to happen next.Anyway I could go on and on about this DVD just get it.If you like rock n' roll and like musical performances you won't be sorry.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING ROCK SHOWS OF ALL TIME. IT'S TERRIBLE THAT IT TOOK 43 YEARS FOR THIS TO SHOW UP ON DVD. ALL THE GROUPS INCLUDING MY COUSIN VICTOR (MOULTY) MOULTON AND THE BARBARIANS SOUNDED AND LOOKED AS GOOD AS THEY DID AT THE HEIGHT OF ROCK AND ROLL. SAD THAT BEST BUY DIDN'T THINK THIS DVD WARRANTED BEING CARRIED AND ADVERTISED FOR SALE IN THE STORE BUT ONLY COULD BE ORDERED BY MAIL AND THEN ONLY IF YOU KNEW THIS DVD WAS AVAILABLE. BEST BUY DID NOT ADVERTISE THIS. IN STORE THIS DVD COULD HAVE SOLD 100'S OF COPIES...ESPECIALLY IN NEW ENGLAND AREA. BIG MISTAKE ON THEIR PART.

Great singer(s) from 1964 on this DVD from James Brown, The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, Lesly Gore, Jan Dean, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Supremes, The Rolling Stones and others. The picture is great and sounds was good too. I felt like dancing the Jerk and Whiskey A GO GO. I know why we never gain weight during that time it is because, we were learning a new dance everyweek. I wish they would bring out more of this type music DVD's.

This is an amazing movie made in 1965 - ling before MTV or music videos. This was a time when nobody really thought of archiving rock concerts. REcorded for posterity are some of the greatest performers in rock, pop and soul - including James Brown, the Supremes, The Beach Boys, the Rolling Stones and many others in their prime or in the very start of their careers. Like "Monterey Pop" the T.A.M.I. show was the seminal performance for many of the acts. When you play it, sit back, turn up the volume and enjoy.

Very entertaining restoration of this 60'concert featuring some of the biggest stars of the Pop, R&B and British invasion music scene. Most remained popular for many years and had a big influence on todays music. It is clear that this DVD was done with loving care to preserve this music for old and new fans alike. Must have for fans of 60's music.

The T.A.M.I. show including the Beach Boys is great. Brings back memories of when I saw the movie at the Paramount. It gave my sixteen year old an understanding of what music and the entertainers were like when I was sixteen.

The number of music/singing stars of the concert are very limited compared to those that actually participated in the concert. For example, the Beach Boys were at the concert but were not in the DVD.
