Being an opera fanatic. Jacques Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann ranks amount one of my all-time favorites. Captured on film, Criterion's 1951 Blu-ray masterpiece is a delectable celluloid fantasy visually and vocally. The florid color cinematography is unmatched. It's classic opera as its predecessor, Criterion's The Red Shoes accomplished for ballet, and included many of the same actors. A treasure to own in any motion picture collection, even if you are not a fan of opera.
