The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has become one of the most influential horror films of all time thanks to it's gritty realistic documentary approach and at the time novel choice of locale. The new Dark Sky restoration sports a 4K restoration which I'm surprised to say really does surpass the already phenomenal previous release with a much more natural looking picture quality and grain levels. Sound is also quite a boost here given there's several different sound mixes including the original audio mix, a 2.0, a 5.1, and the new 7.1 mix supervised by Tobe Hooper. There are several versions of this great release, a single disc release for those who want the bare basics which is the film and four commentaries plus there's a big special edition with the special features from the previous releases. Either way this release surpassed my expectations and reaffirmed my faith in the new 4K restorations being done.

A great classic horror movie with a great steelbook.

Classic, iconic horror in a nice-looking steelbook. The design on the outside of the steelbook is amazing on the front and back (the steelbook front cover is also the disc label image). The inside lining is plain black, but for $12 this is a great find to get this movie on blu-ray with a little swagger. Sound quality was good (you can actually hear the dialogue) and the picture is what it is (it's a low-budget 70s horror) - the transfer keeps the vintage grainy feel in tact =). The bonus features consist of multiple commentary tracks.

This classic film has stood the rest of time for those of us who remember it when it first came out as one of the first “found footage “ style films Made on a shoestring budget, the genius is that everything felt so real the acting is akin to what you would expect, sorry no academy awards but if there had been one for disturbing films it would win frankly just the scene of the chase by Leatherface swinging the chainsaw and spinning in the early morning os well worth the price Yes, it’s been remade and I have that also but nothing beats the original

Ordered on the best buy app, movie is great and steelbook looked in perfect condition but once i opened there were two deep dents on the back

Love this movie! Over 40 years old and is still creepy and unsettling , introducing the world to the horror icon Leatherface. Despite various reviews saying that this movie is a gorefest, the reviewers obviously didn't bother watching it as there is very little blood in the movie. Much of the violence is implied but shot very well, looking like you're watching a snuff film. This movie still can give me the creeps despite being shot on a minuscule budget, a must have for horror buffs and movie buffs in general.

I never understood why this movie was so revered I had seen the remake and was never impressed but geez louise was I am pleasantly shocked when I watched this. It’s low budgets af but somehow that enhances the movie anymore it almost makes it feel like you’re watching a documentary doesn’t rely on gore and let’s your imagination feel in the rest. It does so much with so little I am deadly scared of small towns now.

Such a good classic movie I enjoy old horror movies that make horror icons so amazing this movie I love and the steel book aren’t is ok nothing special but the sad part about this review is no digital code included

This is one of the best full on slasher movies. It's hard to top the original. Well worth the watch.

WOW. I've seen this movie before, everyone has; but this was a completely different experience! The way I first watched it was on a beat up VHS, with all the warps, dirt, darkness and grain that that implies. It still creeped me out, and I had a good time. But now I can say this movie truly, deeply frightened me. The sound mix is so intense, the 4K remaster is so clean and in-your-face, it's like a truck bearing down on you for the entire runtime. I was so wrapped up in this beast that when the credits rolled, I found myself having a panic attack on my own couch! It's that much tension, it's that relentless! Now I fully understand why TCM is legendary; the original audience was just as terrified! Don't settle for anything less than the best, and I tell you right here and now, this one is it.

Classic Horror Movie is now on Steelbook. What a great classic which BB delivers again.
