While it will never live up to the 'sequel', it was a good story and casting, and tied everything together nicely.

This is a direct prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 The Thing. Not as good as the original but it's nice to see what happened before.

Ok, it might not be as good as the original, but I still really liked it..Good acting and awesome cinematography . Well worth the purchase!!

Not as good as the original but close enough. If you haven't watch it, its totally worth it. It gives some explanation to some of the monsters they find on the first one.

Nicely done prequel with decent video/audio quality. If you enjoyed Carpenter's ode to "Who goes there?", by John Campbell, you will find this interesting.

A classic! One of my all time favorite movies that I always forget I already own! I have about 6 copies from dvd to 4k. Send help!

Bought this movie by mistake. I thought it was the original one. I really like what they did with the story well done great special effects.

The original is still the best. But this movie holds its own.

The Thing 2011 is a great prequel that leads directly to The Thing (1982) movie. Definitely worth checking out! Highly recommended.

This review is by someone who is not overly enthralled by the original. Though I do enjoy it and it is well above average, I am not a huge horror fan. Its not bad as sequel go, but is not as good as the original. It lacks the suspense that is part of the original and though the special effects are much better, it is a little slow (at least to me). I say if you like the original A LOT, then get this. If you are a casual fan, then buy this on sale.

This is a prequel to the fantastic 1982 classic. This shows the Norwegian side of the camp right where the original picks up.

love the original, along with the 80s version. this fits right in with the John Carpenter and was better then I thought

'The Thing' was a good sci-fi movie that kept you wondering and who was going to do what to get out of there.

It doesn’t hold a candle to the original, but it’s not bad. I really like Mary Elizabeth Winstead. This blu-ray looks better than the other blu-ray.

This movie lacks the practical effects that the original remake had. That being said, it does a very good job of explaining parts from the first movies exploration of the other base. Obviously they couldn't copy some of the more logical decisions made in the first, but tried very hard to honor it. Unfortunately the version we see fails when it could have been so good.

A lot of people didn’t want a prequel or a remake but this one did not disappoint at all could of done with all the cgi but still a good movie!!!

Loved this newer version of the classic.....worthy of not only watching, but owning as a collector
