This is one of my favorite films, but I refused to buy it on blu-ray until an edition came out worthy of it. The original Universal release omitted some of the great bonus features from the DVD release and had a weird, waxy transfer. Scream Factory fixes any issues a person could have had with the release and gives it the honoring it deserves. Any John Carpenter fan should have this on their shelves.

A great horror/adventure movie. The special effects are excellent considering this film was made in the 80s, and for the most part they hold up pretty well. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the Thing hasn't made a duplicate of your friend and is gonna get you!

I had the dvd version and when I saw this on blu ray I had to get it. The sound and visuals are a good transfer to blu ray. I also have the 2011 version which is a prequel and it leads into the orignal really well. The 1982 is classic and one of the few horror/thriller movies that is very underrated and under appreciated. If you like a good suspense and thriller/gory movie this is a must buy.

Though I prefer the cover art with the title and nothing more, this will do. The movie The Thing is a classic, a look into what horror films looked in the 80s with top notch animitronics and puppets. The alien and what it can do is enough to give you the shivers, Kurt Russell and supporting cast give a glimpse into the paranoia of an intruder on an isolated Antarctic research base.

Possibly the greatest film ever in my opinion. John Carpenter's best film in his career of making classic after classic film. Kurt Russell and Keith David kill it in every scene and with the new remaster never looked or sounded better. Amazing 4k picture and sound.

The definitive version of John Carpenter's sci-fin horror classic. Practical effects look great in 4K. Fans of this film may have the excellent Blu Ray versions form Scream/Shout with better extras but the 4K version has best color timing, resolution etc. A must own!

This movie keeps you on your toes at all time. After finishing watching it. I see why this movie is always mention. From the story and the monster props they used is just wow. This movies shows how now Hollywood is just lazy at making monster or anything. Just over using CGI instead of practical effects

The Thing has been on a lot of people's waiting list for a 4k release. Movie looks and sounds great. Steelbook is a great touch for this release. Great suspense movie and awesome practical effects for it's. One of the many great Russell/Carpenter team ups

An under-rated box office led to this movie getting passed over and moved to cult classic status, but it remains one of my favorite horror experiences. Top notch practical effects and one of the most engrossing set ups ever. Not to be missed.

This may be my favorite one out of all Carpenter and Russell movies. Awesome suspense and I always like the 80's special effects. Limited abilities, but I still love. Awesome cast. Reminds me of 12 Angry Men with an alien. I love popping this in during the Winter or Halloween. Well worth purchasing. The bonus features are better than the original DVD.

This presentation of The Thing in 4k UHD is really impressive. In my opinion and others it is the best this film has every looked. I’m just really happy all these years the movie is looked to fondly. And Carpenter is getting his dues for directing this film.

One of my favorite horror movies of all time. This is a timeless movie by a timeless director. There isn't much, if anything that John Carpenter has made that I haven't liked or loved. This movies look absolutely great in 4k and sounds great too!

Based on a novella called "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell and a remake of the 1951 Howard Hawks The Thing from another world. THis version is the best. It is not for the faint of heart! It came out at the same time as E.T. and was forgotten at the box office but thanks to cable and home video the Thing found its audience. It is a must see for horror and SciFi fans.

This is my favorite overall horror film that has a great mix of science fiction. Based off the original film "It Came From Outer Space," John Carpenter created a suspenseful thriller of who done it? But with an Alien. I think this is far more well rounded with characters and story development than Halloween. I just get a joy each time I watch this because it's so good!

This ranks as one of the best Carpenter movies for a reason. What really sold me on this version is the bountiful extras. Usually, once the Shout Factory releases a film, the double dipping is over and until they start releasing 4K versions, this is the definitive release. If you want to invest in the only necessary release of this movie, this is the edition for you.
