John Carpenter delivers with his timeless classic, The Thing! If you like horror and/or alien movies, I highly recommend that you add this film to your collection (if you don't already have it).

The movie itself is great but I am mainly reviewing the steelbook’s appearance. It simply looks great with both its front and back covers and I like how the it has a matte finish instead of being glossy.

If you're into the genre, you will like this one. John Carpenter made an authentic adaptation of John Campbell's short story "Who Goes There", unlike the 1951 Winchester B/W version titled "The Thing From Another World." The disk transfer is decent, but could be enhanced for detail and color saturation.

In the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic, John Carpenter's The Thing really brings home the paranoia and terror. As the tension builds the movie ends on a somewhat quiet yet realistic note that people in isolation are sure to be able to relate to.

This is John Carpenter’s beat movie. It is a scary and, in one scene, a funny movie. Every character in the movie became so paranoid with each other that developed a mistrust. You can’t blame them.

This presentation of John Carpenter's The Thing is fantastic. Colors really pop during the more gory scenes and the DTS-X track really sounds great.

This is a great remaster of an early 80!s film. Always liked this film. Film grain is present but not over done,and the dtsx audio is a great addition and adds greatly to the thrills and chills.

I absolutely love the original movie from the early 50's and this remake with Kurt Russell is still spine chilling and 4K just makes it that much better, just simple a great scifi/horror movie.

A sci-fi thriller that has stood the test of time for 40 years. Low budget in filming but huge results for the cast and picture. A must-have for your steelbook 4K collection.

I absolutely love this movie as it has some of the best practical effects for its time! All parts in the movie that include "The Thing" are amazing puppetry and the fact that it didn't get more love until recent day is a shame!!

Awesome, one of Carpenters best, the practical effects in this movie are some of the best ever put on film, better than the original, and better than the remake. Trust no one. 9/10

Upgraded from a dvd that was designed for a square tv we had black bars on the top and bottom and on the sides but this one fills the screen to the proper aspect and I am seeing things that I have not seen before.

The Thing is one if the best remakes. It surpasses the 1951 original with a sense of isolation and dread as 12 men are stranded with a creature from another world that can take you over one cell at a time. Paranoia and suspense from John Carpenter one of the Masters Of Horror.

One of my great all time favorite thriller! I have this on VHS which I have worn down because of how much I watched it. I’m glad that it is now on 4k blu ray. So much better in this format!

this new release actually speaks volumes with the cult following of this movie. The new 4k Transfer is way better than the one released by shout factory.. Great buy and a great price.!!

The Thing has never looked better than it does on this 4K disc! For any fan of the film, I highly recommend picking this version of the film up. The steelbook art is amazing as well!

First off this is a great movie! One of my absolute favorites! The restoration done on this 4K release is amazing and well worth the double dip! Must be seen to be believed!

Pulled from a new 2K scan of the original negative, John Carpenter's 'The Thing' has never looked better. I made the leap from a standard DVD version, and the difference is phenomenal. Highly recommended for horror or sci-fi fans, this is a classic, and now looks better than ever.

the picture quality of this brand new picture transfer is amazingly clear and super hi-def. this is one of my all-time favorite movies, and I'm so glad that it has been given the reissue treatment that it deserves. praise & props to the Scream Factory company for putting this out.
