What hasn’t been said about this John Carpenter-led remake over the years? This is the rare remake that outshines the original. It is among the best horror movies of all time. It has Oscar winning special effects that stand the test of time. And 4K offers the highest quality version possible.

One of the greatest horror movies ever gets a facelift and has a ton of new special features included. New interviews from the cast, a fans documented trip to the shooting location, even the TV version altogether for the first time. Only thing that would have topped it all off was if they added the alternate ending somewhere on there. If you have ever enjoyed this movie before, get it and be prepared to spend a good majority of an afternoon to go through all the special features.

The movie itself is an underappreciated sci-fi/horror classic. It now finally has a home media release worthy of it. Pixel perfect picture, decent upgrade to object based sound and practical effects in 4K. Perfect timing releasing it at the beginning of autumn in time for Halloween. Don't hesitate to purchase this if you're a fan!

One of the very best Monster Movies ever made. A John Carpenter and Kurt Russell team up. (They did several movies together including Escape from New York and Big Trouble in Little China). The Old School Mechanical Special Effects are Outstanding! The Atmosphere, The Music, The Tension.. make for a great movie experience.

The story of the discovery of an alien creature found frozen at a destroyed Norwegian Antarctic science station. The American team that find the creature soon find out that it's not dead, just in hibernation. And this is where the horror begins. Horror master John Carpenter directed this film and the cast is headed Kurt Russell. If you haven't seen give it a shot!

Wow! This new re-master makes all other editions irrelevant. Shout knocked this one out of the park! Great color, sharpness, detail, and sound. A lot of the extras from the 90s laserdisc are ported over including the documentary (the intro of which features a laserdisc flying towards Earth). But there are also new interviews with the cast and a new commentary from Dean Cundey. If you like the movie, there's NO reason not to own this edition.

Bought this for my boyfriend as an anniversary gift, The Thing is probably his favorite horror movie so I knew he'd love it. Haven't watched any of the special features yet, but wow it was definitely worth the extra money for the blu-ray. I don't usually care about that kind of stuff or can even tell the difference, but this one you can really notice the difference. It was awesome, & my boyfriend was freaking out he was so excited about it haha.

this is my top 5 favorite movies of all time The Thing was way ahead of it's time with practical effects which still looks better than some of this CGI today and still stands up I can watch this over and over again without getting bored I had to have it in a steelbook book for my collection

It was my first time seeing this film and in 4k it was excellent I love John Carpenter films and I’m surprised it took me so long to finally watch this one. As a huge fan of Halloween I should have seen this already but the picture and sound is terrific

This film has some of the best practical effects ever. It’s older but it still can hold up with the best . It’s about time is was given the 4K treatment. The picture is pretty flawless, The acting and the storyline are great , and those effects … Wow ! I am very pleased that it was finally released in 4K

I do not own any copy from Scream Factory or Arrow (import). The only comparison that I have is Universal’s Blu-ray release. This 4K is a no-brainer upgrade. (I am one of those who picks and chooses.) It isn’t perfect… Some shots still look soft. But the experience overall is way, way better!

One Of The Best Sci-Fi Movies Ever Made!!! However This Native 4K PQ IMO Is Not That Much Of An Improvement Over The Mastered in 4K 1080p Blu-ray Issued By Scream Factory In 2018 That Is Also In My Collection. The Upside Are that Both Releases Were Issued In Wonderful Steelbooks!!!

I am so glad that Best Buy carries movies that I love to watch. Best Buy made it very easy to purchase and obtain it as quickly as possible. This is my second video I have bought through Best Buy at a great price. Other places wanted more for this video, but shopping around , led me to Best Buy and get a great price. I am planning to buy future videos through Best Buy. I am truly satisfied with the overall shopping experience at Best Buy.

This is the definitive home video release of one of my favorite films of all time. I was on the fence about picking this up because I already had the Scream a factory release, but this blows that image outta the water. I’m still going to keep it though, because it has incredible special features.

People go back and forth on what the "best horror film of all time is," and to me, this is THE go-to example. John Carpenter has made a lot of stinkers, but this is almost objectively his magnum opus. Absolutely amazing film, but not for the squeamish.

Fear, tension and practical effects at their best. If you are a fan of this film and only seen it on video, you owe it to yourself to pick this one up and see it in 4K. It looks and sounds amazing. So glad I picked this one up.

I've owned this fantastic film multiple times over many formats...the picture and sound have never looked so good. This is hands down the best way to see this horror/science fiction/mystery of a film. A solid purchase requiring multiple viewings.

I am not usually a horror movie fan. As it turns out, I do enjoy movies which blend Sci-Fi and Horror (e.g. Predator, Aliens, and The Terminator). If you like some of the movies I've listed, then you might enjoy The Thing. Kurt Russell's beard is super epic, the cinematography is beautiful, and it features a score by the legendary Ennio Morricone. This special edition BD is a new transfer and looks great.

On 4K this title looks awesome and is another favorite from John Carpenter and The cast like Kurt Russell and Keith David in this sci-fi horror do an awesome performance. The look of the alien/monsters still look creepy. Story to me is awesome.
