This movie is one of the unsung heroes of the 80’s. Even though it got huge criticism when it was first released, this film has stood the test of time and is finally seen for the great piece of art that it should have been when it was released. Seeing this movie on Blu-ray makes you truly appreciate the animation style.

I was so excited to get this 30th anniversary addition and in the steel book no less. This movie takes me back to my childhood and to see it in Hi Def is amazing. This movie brings back a lot of good memories. If you grew up with this and have kids of your own, share this with them. You won't regret it.

I have always been a Transformers fan. I grew up playing with the toys and watching the shows/movies but I never saw this one. While watching this one, I couldn’t help but be amazed on how good it is and that it is older than I am. If you are a fan and have not seen this movie, you are missing out.

Bought this and Gi Joe the movie to relive my childhood. Great quality of the film on the disc.

An iconic movie with an amazing soundtrack featuring Stan Bush and Vince DiCola. Finally in 4K in a nice steelbook.

Awesome movie back then, still an awesome movie now. The sappy kid cartoon movies of this time would stand no chance against this more realistic cartoon movie with the deaths of many transformers and it’s message of sacrifice. Transformers have withheld the rest of time.

Great movie, great price. A piece of nostalgia to hit you in the feels.

I settled for the standard release instead of the limited edition Steelbook. While I have seen the Steelbook in person and think it is fantastic (better than the pictures do it justice), I like the artwork on this new release. It includes a slipcover with the same artwork. The 4K Blu-ray menu also utilizes this image with HDR highlighting the glow from the Matrix of Leadership, which is cool. So, how does the transfer look? It is a considerable step up from the previous Shout! Factory Blu-ray. I was doubtful it would be a vast improvement, but it absolutely is cleaner, detail is sharper, and the image with HDR doesn't look artificial--it's simply beautiful to behold. There is no other way to watch this movie now. Be aware, however, that this includes the widescreen theatrical presentation though. So, if you like the 4:3 TV aspect ratio with the entire animation footage present, you will have issue with this release. It's too bad they couldn't include both, but I suppose that leaves room to get us to dip again on the future release that has both. I highly recommend this release no matter which other version(s) you own. And certainly at the price currently (under $20) it's a great deal.

This is one of those movies that I cannot stop enjoying, even though it isn't the original theatrical release I saw. It's interesting to see the interviews of cast members reminising what occurred during their sessions.

This movie is a great watch. a must own! The movie shows that sometimes Good doesnt survive Evil.
