This film is brought up in books focused on writing good stories. The flawed hero played by Newman in an Oscar nominated role shows his journey for fixing the wrongs of a botched medical procedure that was covered up by the hospital and church and his inner struggle to fix his own flaws as an ambulance chasing lawyer. Look for a young Bruce Willis in the final courtroom scene sitting in the back behind Newman.

Do yourself a favor and see this movie! Paul Newman is a down and out lawyer who is handed a pity case for easy bucks. But he isn’t comfortable with the settlement so he investigates and he gets more than he bargained for! Great movie and great cast!

I have wanted to buy this movie for quite a while. It was such a compelling story to watch, without having my train of thought broken up by commercials. I am looking for more movies at Best Buy's; their selection is wonderful!

Good movie if you like a lot of action. Keeps your interest

Paul Newman plays a lawyer on the downswing. His teacher/mentor throws an easy case his way to help him out of his skid, but seeing the effects of a botched operation first hand, Newman's Galvin decides to take the case to trial. This is a dark story, but Newman leads a fantastic cast, and Lumet tells the story with the visual precision that a master filmmaker can bring to a great piece of work.

Fabulous movie! Suspenseful, human drama, betrayal, and power of the human spirit to seek out its success. Not an action or thriller; a thinker. And Paul Newman whom I have never seen in a B movie. He was first class always in the projects he chose to work on. Best Buy is the way I got to see this movie again and again. When I saw this DVD at Best Buy, it was a no-brainer. I just had to buy it. Anything with Paul Newman in it had to be great. I was not disappointed. He was terrific, as usual. The supporting cast was also very good. I would definitely recommend this movie, whether you are a Paul Newman fan or not. If not, you will fast become one.

This is a real favorite of mine... Paul Newman in one of his best roles, perfectly suited to the later side of his career. I love rooting for the underdog, and the Verdict delivers in classic fashion! Fabulous plot-line as well!
