Skinny Puppy may be an acquired taste to one into mainstream genres. However, Oghr has been at it since the 80's, through multiple incarnations, and Weapon does not disappoint. SP has managed to satisfy the die-hard among us here with heavy (and clever use of) synthesizers, occasional outright cacaphony, and trademark throaty lyrical delivery facing pressing social issues which evoke a sense of vintage SP reminiscent of Too Dark Park, Rabies, or Bites and Remission, but are entirely new in their construction and context. Indeed, this is a Criminal Age. Highly recommended.

Skinny Puppy is tremendous to see live, but I never find myself listening to any of their recent albums more than once. Dwayne was obviously the guy that gave the music that ominous, spooky feel to it, and you can tell it's missing since he passed away. The last few albums sound more like the solo Ogre stuff. I wish that they'd distort his voice to the point of not being able to understand the childish lyrics. SP never had the best lyrics, but the point was that they didn't make sense before. I'll still go see them live, and they are nice guys. Maybe they have it in them to keep getting better, but they will never again reach the peak of too dark park / last rights in my mind.

Let's face it, some of Skinny Puppy's albums have not been... well. You know. But Handover ROCKED. THE WEAPON ROCKED. This album is definitely in permanent rotation on my listening rack for sure. Just goes to to show that Skinny Puppy are still as innovative, fresh, gritty and raw as ever. I'm in love all over again. Yesssssssss! Skinny Puppy will always have my utmost respect and awe.
