While I am not too politically inclined, this series is a must for any person looking for engaging stories, compelling characters and lots of political drama. It starts with a bicycle accident in the early morning and doesn't let go of you until the very end, i.e. the season finale.

I had all of the West Wing seasons on DVD except for the first. This completes the series for me.

For the first season, it's pretty good. The characters start to come together later in the season better than the beginning.

One of the best shows I''ve ever seen

This show had the best pilot I've ever seen. I realy can't list all of the shows I've seen in my life for you to compare with, but they include the likes of "The Wire", "The Sopranos", "The Office" and many other quality programs. I'm not saying that this show is necessarily better than those; I'm merely stating that with the very first episode I saw, I was hooked. The West Wing follows the trials that must be overcome on a daily basis by the President and his staff, including his Chief of Staff (John Spencer, incredible. Actually, everyone in the lead roles is phenomenal, so I'll no longer comment on that from this point forth), his deputy (Bradley Whitford), the Communications Director (Richard Schiff), his deputy (Rob Lowe), the White House Press Secretary (Allison Janney), and the President's personal aide (Dule Hill). They live through the daily trials and necessities of being in the White House. The show and its characters are fascinating, as is the shows intricate explorations of the democratic process in the United States and the duties of its President. However, it must be noted that the administration in this show is Democratic, thus all of the issues and events raised in the show are seen from the point of view of a liberal administration, and therefore may not appeal to conservative viewers. This is a decision that each viewer must make themselves, to be sure, but the show's political content must be taken into account. That aside, this is an excellent show (which won record numbers of Emmy Awards) and a landmark of network television. I recommend that you avoid missing out on it.

The first season introduces the characters and settings of the entire series. The writing is good in the early episodes, and by the end of the season, it is superb. The West Wing is a smart and witty insider's look at the quick-paced lives of those who work in a hypothetical White House. This season is a must-buy for anyone looking for a TV program that will keep you on the edge of your seat with its riveting discourse.

The West Wing is one of the best TV shows in recent years. It provides an intellectually stimulating look at Washington D.C.

I love this show. Martin Sheen and the rest of the cast are excellent. So glad Best Buy is carrying the seasons.
