There is a reason is is one of the greatest shows ever on TV. Season 3 is the transition season but upon a 2nd viewing it was so much more and I am glad to watch it again. The only thing bad was the price, but they are on sale for like $20 so that is well worth it. Just get it on sale and you get one of the greatest shows ever!

The Wire Season Three takes us back to the street and even though Season Two was stellar Season Three tops it. It starts with the Franklin Towers being destroyed with the Mayor of Baltimore there to witness it, and Avon Barksdale still in jail, with his number two Russell "Stringer" Bell running the Barksdale drug empire as Avons lieutenant. With Stringer being the less violent, although much more ruthless and cerebral, and more business minded of the two, when Avon gets out- who is the street styled and more vengeful type, you best believe there styles will collide. McNutly, Daniels, Greggs, Freamon, Syndor, and Prez are still on the hunt for Stringer after the Port Investigation ended. In other areas of Season Three, a determined councilman named Thomas Carcetti puts pressure on Baltimore Police Commisioner Ervin Burrell on lowering the crime rate, thus making the mayor make Burrell fufill promises for the yearly crime stats. With Burrell and new Deputy of Operations William Rawls putting pressure on all of the major in the Baltimore Police Districts to lower crime and lower murders, Season Three follows the story of Major Howard 'Bunny' Colvin of the Western District, who stragegizes his own way of lowering the crime rate in a very interesting story. Other chracters you will see focused on in Season Three is Dennis 'Cutty' Wise who is a former criminal who gets out of jail in the first episode of the season, who intends at first to go on a path to good reform. Carver and Herc are now in the Western District, rip and running every chance they get when the Season opens. Omar is still Omar, and Bunk is still Bunk. Bodie and Poot are back as the classics, and you see an upcoming drug lord by the name of Marlo, who eventually intends to take over West Baltimores corners, which doesn't sit too well with Avon Barksdale. The Wire Season Three shows the dimensions of good and bad of each individual, and shows politics as well. It is the best Season yet of one of the greatest TV Shows of ALL tIME

It is quite awesome to see how Baltimore went from the murder capital of the US in around '96 to being the city it is now. The Wire shows a lot of real problems in Baltimore and show ways they tired to change them. If you have watched any of the Wire seasons, i would start. Seasons 2 and 3 are great!
