One of worst movies I have ever seen. Way too much vulgarity and no real story that I could follow.

The American dream or the American nightmare

The wolf is known as both a social creature amongst its kind, and particularly within its pack, and the devourer of anything else that gets in its way. It's an attractive but fearsome animal. It's sleek, refined, capable, and very dangerous. It's the perfect metaphor for the man who notoriously rose to power in the 1980s stock brokerage scene, the man who made himself a fortune and guided others to countless millions by choosing the right friends, knowing his enemies, and pouncing on every opportunity with the cunning, smarts, and determination necessary to not crush the competition but to rise to the top of his field, to quite literally become the "king of the world," or at least the world his vast fortune but narrow focus had built. But as these stories tend to reveal, his meteoric ascendancy wasn't built only on sweat, smarts, and lawful business practices. -- no matter how destructive -- that might even make Gordon Gekko stop and consider the ramifications. Director Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street is notoriously vulgar and frank yet beautifully crafted and endlessly captivating in its recreation of a story that validates the dangers in too much of a good thing. Of course, whether anything in Jordan Belfort's life can be considered "good" is the secret little subtext beneath the chaos.

    Dicapriob does it again

My 3 year old daughter absolutely loves little red riding hood, or at least that's what my ex wife says. So when I saw that DiCaprio was playing the wolf in a new movie and that it was 3 hours long, I knew I had to get it. When the ex dropped her off at my loft the other day I told her "daddy has a surprise for you" and she said "whats a daddy?" Then I put in the DVD and plopped her down in front of the tv and hit play. I told her I'd see her in a few hours and then I left and went to the bar to meet some friends. I got to the bar and forgot it was ping pong night, so I played 30 or 40 games and had a few oat sodas as I've been know to tip back a few when the moment is right. About 5 or 6 hours later I went back home to check on the kid and she must have loved the movie because she was throwing the biggest tantrum when I walked in the door. I always get my baby what she wants, so I immediately caved and hit play. I went straight to bed and woke up about 10 hours later to the sweetest thing. My little girl was digging in my trashcan and kept saying "hungy". I wasn't exactly sure when she meant and then I realized she she must be trying to say "wolf " and I told her the wolf is in the tv. I then played the movie for her again, but this time I watched it with her. I have to admit for a children's movie, this was really good. They really know how to keep the parents attention these days. In fact it was so good I just ordered Dicaprios other movie based on the Berenstain bears called "The Revenant". I'll let you know how she likes it.

    Best Movie of the Year

The Wolf of Wall Street is a three hour movie that seems like an hour and a half movie. I went to the movie theater twice to watch it and I rarely go to the movies. The movie is based on Jordan Belfort, a stockbroker who made millions off of selling penny stocks back in the 80's. It is actually based on Belfort's autobiography "The Wolf of Wall Street", which by the way, he actually wrote "Capturing the Wolf of Wall Street" as well (here is hoping for a sequel#. The movie starts off the same way it finishes, incredibly vulgar and offensive. I love my movies this way though and from what I gather, Belfort was actually the way DiCaprio depicted him in the movie. Martin Scorsese directs a masterpiece in my mind along the lines of "Goodfellas and Casino". A blend of the two. There is also a ton of great laughs strung throughout this flick. At one point, I literally had to look away from the screen to catch my breath because I was laughing so hard. So if you are not easliy offended #this movie is filled with F-Bombs and Nudity) and want to check out a wonderful scripted movie and in my mind, DiCaprio's best acting in a film, then this movie will not let you down. I think it is easily the movie of the year in my opinion. Buy it and kick back, enjoy and be ready to watch it again.

The Wolf of Wall Street tells the story of Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), a man with aspirations of the wealth and easy life of the Wall Street stockbroker. He quickly learns the ropes under the guidance of Wall Street veteran Mark Hanna (Matthew McConaughey), an executive who is a reflection of everything Jordan wants. He's rich, confident, and knows the system. Mark advises cocaine, hookers, and masturbation as the keys to Wall Street success, advice Jordan takes to heart. Just as he's coming into his own, the stock market tanks, his firm closes its doors, and he's left without a job. His ambition to work the system leads him to a small, out-of-the-way firm that deals in penny stocks and pays a hefty 50% commission. He dazzles his co-workers and continues to expand his knowledge base. He sets out to start his own company: Stratton Oakmont. He's joined by his ambitious neighbor Donnie Azoff (Jonah Hill) and the business grows quickly, operating under the goal of selling wealthy clients blue chip stocks, gaining their confidence with good returns, and pushing the lower priced and higher commissioned penny stocks afterwards.

    Vulgar but captivating

Martin Scorsese’s loud, frenzied, in-your-face, drug-filled adaptation of notorious ‘90s Wall Street giant Jordan Belfort’s memoir is a unique offering that paints an extremely vivid (not to mention explicit) portrait of greed and excess. Reminiscent of the director’s 1995 film, Casino, in tone, pacing, and thematic content, The Wolf of Wall Street is troubling because it’s true, but endlessly entertaining for exactly the same reason. Leonardo DiCaprio, one year removed from playing a demonic slave owner in Django Unchained, inhabits another riveting and unhinged character, and he knocks it out of the park once again. This guy has range, and he seems to be getting better and better each year. The film is longer than needed (even after the drastic cuts Scorsese supposedly had to make), and certain scenes overstay their welcome, but The Wolf of Wall Street is risky and unlike anything else you’ll see anytime soon, and that alone makes it pretty great.

People will bash this movie having never seen it or because they walked out because they thought it was crude or glamorizing criminal life. If that's the case, then you entirely missed the point of this movie. Like Goodfellas, this movie shows the "highs" and the lows and the price these guys pay for living that lifestyle. Acting in this movie is phenomenal across the board! Leo deserved an Oscar for this, it's just too bad this was the year of McConaughey. At 3 hours, I thought there'd be some spot where the movie dragged and too much filler, but this was possibly the quickest 3 hour movie I have ever seen. Marty and his editor did a heck of job on pacing this movie perfectly.

This movie is everything, funny, sad, disgusting, intense, dramatic, and just plain entertaining. It's everything you loved about Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, except it's in Wall Street. Leonardos performance was amazing ,as usual, and Jonah Hill was absolutely hilarious. This is a film for the ages and I'll be honest, since i've had it, i've watched it about 5 times already. Must buy and a great deal considering it comes with a DVD/Digital Copy.

The movie is rather long and it is very graphic although you don't feel like you are sitting a long time when you watch it. DiCaprio kills it in his role in the movie and he is as persuasive as the devil. The movie is absolutely fantastic.

This is sure to become another classic. Leo delivers here making Jordan Bellafort the guy you love to hate and want to be. This film dances the line between serious and comedy but comes thru and delivers. Definitely not one for the family with all the nudity and drug content but a must have for your cops and crime movie collection.

I enjoyed this movie .. The story is told very realistically and holds no punches. Just make sure the kids are in bed or that extra sensitive mother in law is not around when watching ...As you can tell by having to verify your age to view the trailer, some scenes are mighty risqué ....enjoy !!

Leo has done it again! This movie is set in the 80's and targets the corruption on Wall Street, Definitely a great movie that I would recommend. Jonah Hill pair with Leo make for some good laughs throughout the movie. The only complaint I have is that an Oscar wasn't awarded to this film.

I'm normally not excited to sit through a 3 hour movie but The Wolf of Wall Street was so fun to watch from start to finish. Leonardo DiCaprio is excellent as Jordan Belfort and Jonah Hill's role as Donnie is great too. I highly recommend checking this one out!
