    Better than in the theater

The Blu-ray version of The Wolfman is great, but you've got to watch the director's cut. It is so much better than the theatrical version. The editing on the version that was shown in the theater was horrible. The director's cut just seems to flow better and make more sense. Plus, the extras on the Blu-ray are awesome. There are alternate endings, extended scenes (the extended chase scene is great), behind the scenes features, and interviews. I really like the feature called Legacy, Legend, and Lore. It's like pop-up video. As you watch the movie, videos and text boxes with information relating to the old Universal horror movies and werewolf trivia pop up on screen. Unfortunately, it only works with the theatrical version. You can also bookmark your favorite scenes of the movie for quick reference. If you are an old school horror fan, or Rick Baker fan, you'll love this Blu-ray. It's definitely worth the money.

Great character developed remake done with class!

As a forty year fan of the original "Wolf Man" with Lon Chaney Jr. and of Horror and Sci-Fi films in general, this new re-make has become my favorite Horror film to-date. The Blu Ray version looks/sounds superb. The story is classic. The re-make has been updated just enough to pay total respect to its father-film but yet different enough to allow it to stand on its own and be as interesting as the original in its own way. The character development in this updated version allows for more identification of and with the characters. The action is great. The violence can be gruesome but it makes sense for the story that is being told. This film has class...like its father-film. The strained relationship between father and son in this film make it so easy to identify with. A new classic. This is the first film that literally made me jump in my seat in many, many years.

    It's not stupid...

Remakes are all the rage at the time, and when they remade the wolfman, people we're expecting a cgi-filled (fake looking), silly slasher. This is not that. This is not that stupid. This is an actual remake. It sticks to the original story, it adds suspense, the budget to make it more realistic and complex, and it strays away from too much cgi. It is a "classic" remake. If they remade An American Werewolf in London but made it really serious- you wouldn't like it nearly as much. This movie sticks to the light and dark tone, the cool creepy gypsy women, the ugly drinking townspeople, the snooty ignorant psychologists, the big creepy mansion, and the wolf-man that walks on TWO legs with fur popping out of what use to be the man's shirt. It's great stuff for someone who loves the genre! This is literally a classic-remake!

The Classic Monster Movie Makes a Comeback!

If you're anything like me and enjoy a good old-fashioned monster movie, you'll definitely enjoy this re-make of the original Wolfman. From the excellent acting through the compelling plot and the wonderful special effects, this is what modern re-makes should be like. The story starts off slowly and takes time to build each of the characters into individuals as opposed to rushing through their development--you wind up caring about the characters and become invested in them. Not enough movies are made with the level of care and skill as this one.

    Better than I remember.

When I originally watched the movie I wasn't impressed. I'm glad I gave it another shot. Benicio is kind of a weird looking dude. That look makes him good for this role in that regard. The other key characters are played by well known Actors/Actresses. The way its filmed still has a classic feel to it. I like the still fairly human characteristics of they're wolf forms. The effects never seem cheesy.

    Very Underrated

Don't judge this film if you've only seen the theatrical version. While you do get the gothic atmosphere and general storyline, the editing in that version is just horrendous and turns the movie into a pacing nightmare. Watch the director's cut and enjoy one of the bloodiest, most atmospheric and entertaining werewolf movies ever made. Picture quality of the Blu-ray is stunning, too.

Great movie done right.Picture shines in HD.Casting, acting, action is top notch. It makes you jump in spots and is very visceral not your dads wolf man. There some very interesting extras(deleted scenes, alt endings and some making of which are very insightful). You can also watch the original film via bluray live.with 2 cuts its a great value.I enjoyed this so much I hope all the classics get this kind of treatment.

BluRay Extras & Movie A Keeper

Movie was better then average with some pretty cool extra features. BluRay continues to impress with it's extras, new menu effects, and more. Actors top notch as you can't go wrong with Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, & Benicio Del Toro (did well, too).

    Great cast

Considering the cast, which features Anthony Hopkins and Benetio Del Toro, I was a little disappointed. The acting was great, no doubt, but the story was a little slow at times. It does, however, have the best transformation scene that I have seen since "An American Werewolf In London". Overall, good, but not great.

    Not Bad Remake

In 1941, audiences were taken by storm with The Wolf Man. Now, in 2010, a new generation of audiences were treated to a big budget remake. Rick Baker brings the wolfman to startling life and overall, it's a gory romp!

Another friend of mine from school told me about it, he was too scared to go watch it so I got to rent it one night. I was scared a few times with the jumps, disgusted with some gory stuff shown in it and the plot was awesome!

Sadly, tthe potential for a gothic tragidy is unrealized here. The ending is predictable and CGI is surprisingly haphazardly executed. Hopkins seems a bit bored with the part. Del Toro has great potential to strut his stuff but the script stifles him. Emily Blunt is beautiful and earnest in what limited means the plot gives her. Make up effects are amazing (courtesy of the outstanding go to wolfman and beastmaker, Rick Baker), and transformation sequences are handles well. Moody lighting and production design are top notch. Music is grandiose and fitting.

Excellent! The story line differered slightly from the old classic Lon Chany version but made it better. Near the end a "Battle of the Wolfmen" was great action but short . Anthony Hopkins was, as usual, his same great and "spooky" self.
