The World's End is the final installment of Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy, following Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, which share most of the same cast, but as far as I can tell, none of the same characters. Each film can be enjoyed singularly, you don't HAVE to see the others to enjoy one, but they are all must-see-several-times movies.
Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost return to bring you their version of a sci-fi paranoia movie this time, along with many familiar faces including 007 veteran Pierce Brosnan. This particular troupe has a fantastic way of paying homage to the movies that inspired theirs without tastelessly copying them. They accomplish much success dishing out paranoia, horror, action, drama, and comedy as seasoned scholars of the genres while being entirely creative and maintaining that force of nature that makes anyone's art unique to the artist.
This version includes many entertaining featurettes and the ever valuable digital copy. Buy immediately!

The World's End is the epic third installment into the Cornetto Trilogy (Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz being the first two movies). The only thing that connects this movie from the other two is that at a certain point of the movie they eat a British ice cream called Cornetto. The movie deals with a guy who tells a story in a rehab focus group about a time where he and his friends long ago went to try and journey through twelve bars and drink a pint of beer in each bar in one night. Although he remembers that night and how good it was, it still bothered him that he never completed the journey. From that point, the movie revolves around him getting the old gang back together and finally complete the journey. Edgar Wright is brilliant comedic writer. He his probably hands down the best as of now. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost once again delivers in the characters they play.

I was a little disappointed initially, but my expectations were insurmountable. I LOVE the first two in the trilogy. When World's End was announced and all the way leading up to it's release date, my excitement level was boiling over. I wanted this to blow my mind. Afterall, it had to be better than the others because it was the last, right? Needless to say, I was deflated after seeing it because no movie would've been as good as what I built up in my mind.
BUT after some time spent reflecting on it. I changed my perspective. To put it succinctly, I learned to like it. Yea, it's not on the same level as the others, but its still enjoyable. Give it a chance. It's the 3rd movie in the trilogy so you have to own it! :)

I am a little bias when it comes to these types of movies. They are usually off the wall and crazy with no regard to any sense of reality. This is one reason why I like them so much. This movie kind of caught me off guard once I started to watch it. Learning that it was about a bunch of grown men that were going to go bar hopping to relive the days of their youth had me wondering if this movie was going to be entertaining.
The plot starts off a little slow and you will wonder how a whole movie can be contained into such a shallow plot, but as the story unfolds, it becomes crazy while maintaining the humor. I found it to live up to the reputation of other movies from this group of actors. Even my wife ended up sitting and watching with me (Usually does not happen with this type of movie, except for Shawn of the dead).
In short I loved this movie and was upset when it was over...

If you have seen and loved Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz like I have then you probably have already seen and loved this movie as well. But if you haven't seen any of those films, then this is still a film worth seeing for any sci fi film buff. This is one of those rare sci fi comedies that actually work on both levels. The comedy is quick and sharp. The sci fi plot blends well with the more mundane pub crawl scenario. The action sequences are spot on as well. There is something for everyone with this one. The cast is fantastic as well with the likes of Rosemund Pike and Pierce Brosnan joining an already stellar group. This is a solid package with all of the bells and whistles that can be found in the blu-rays for Shaun and Hot Fuzz. This is certainly worth the price as there are hours of entertainment to be found.
