You don't have to be a wrestling fan to enjoy this movie, although my wife and I are. In fact, if you're not a wrestling fan and think it's fake, you should definitely watch this movie to see exactly what these great athletes go through. People who are not fans of wrestling brush it off as fake. Wrestling is staged sports entertainment, not fake! The torture these men and women put their bodies through, 300 days out of the year, for their fans is everything but fake. This includes retired wrestlers, like Mickey Rourke's character, who refuse to quit for their fans. This movie is practically a documentary for those wrestlers. Mickey Rourke does a supurb acting job and was actually coached by many Hall of Famers, such as, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, and others. My only negative comment was the ending. My wife and I thought Darren Aronofsky could have concluded it a little better. (But that's just our opinion.) So, for all you wrestling fans, don't hesitate, BUY THIS MOVIE!!! For all those who don't like wrestling, I say watch it anyway. It may just give you a different perspective on this great industry and the wonderful forgotten greats that built it.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be a fan of wrestling to enjoy this movie, though, I am. Mickey Rourke is SPECTACULAR as Randy "The Ram", a pro-wrestler who reached the height of his popularity in the 80s. Now, Rourke's character is doing autograph signings and shows at Rec Centers just to make ends meet. He's a recovering alcoholic and drug user. Not to mention his steroid habits. This movie has single-handedly revived Mickey's career through his grity portrayal and the depth into which he becomes the character. Marissa Tomei is also amazing as a middle-aged stripper whom becomes the object of Rourke's affection. Overall, just an amazing movie from start to finish. Spend the money and pick up a copy.

I walked pass this movie time and time againg going in Bestbuy. Finally I decided to give a play and since it was on sale why not. I was impressed at this movie, it looked great also. I liked how he was well respected even though he wasn't living the lavish life of someone of his stature you'd think would be. I liked how raw this movie felt. It wasn't one of those blow em' up flicks which aren't bad but this makes the movie easier to connect. Only problem with this movie I had was the ending. Maybe I missed the point but I would've liked to see the out come. Did he die? or simply what happened? I don't think the movie led up that strong to end like that. Just my opinion. Overall great movie.

One of the best films that I have seen at least in the last few years. Mickey Rourke does a stellar job in portraying the character of Randy "The Ram". Besides winning the Golden Globe he also deserved winning the Academy Award for best actor rather than Sean Penn. Not just a great wrestling film, but also a terrific film based on drama, great acting and the emotional performance between Mickey Rourke and the rest of the cast. I give this film a thumbs up!!!

The Wrestler is a very grim, depressing look at the struggles former superstar pro wrestlers face once the fans, money and fame are gone. Protagonist Randy "The Ram" Robinson juggles working menial jobs between occasional wrestling gigs, keeping up with his rent, trying to connect with his estranged daughter and wooing a local stripper. The movie explores how aging grapplers of years past struggle to find their way in a world beyond spandex, steroids and bodyslams.

Very good plot, great acting, WOW for an ending!! How true to life this movie really is. Not for anyone under 17, due to s-- content. But the interplay of the characters was marvelously written, and with OSCAR WINNING PERFORMANCES!! Got this movie yesterday at 4:00PM and watched it at 8:00 PM. Well worth getting for your collection!

With the majority of movies today being over the top and just plain cheesy - this is a brilliant but simple production that you will appreciate. Rourke has one of the best performances I've seen from any actor.
