Quiet, powerful massager
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros Powerful and near impossible to stall Longer stroke distance than others Quiet Motor Includes travel bag Includes the 4 most used tips Convenient method of changing tips Polished app with routines Apple Health integration Multiple power levels Allows firmware updates to improve/fix Pressure coaching via app Cons Sometimes rattles Grease from shaft can get on clothes Shut off a few times unexpectedly Coach does not pause when changing body locations Design The design is still the similar triangle shape that Theragun has used in the past. One could be forgiven for thinking it is not new. The handles are made of a rubberized finish that aides with grip allowing 3 different positions to hold the device to try to get to where you need. Included are 4 tips which are quick and easy to swap out. Depending on the usage, some tips are made of a foam rubber where others are firmer to get deeper to those hard to reach muscles, like the cone. On the top are three buttons which control power on, percussion on, power up, and power down. The power levels are indicated by 5 led bars and the battery life is indicated by 3 round leds. Included is Bluetooth connectivity to allow the Prime to work with the included app. All accessories can comfortably fit in the included travel pouch which keeps the whole package very light and compact. Usage You might be wondering why a percussive massaging device needs an app. The answer seems to be to help guide those with less experience than a physical therapist on how to properly use the device. It can integrate with Apple Health and suggest treatments based on your activities as well as record your treatments back into Apple Health. The app is well polished and offers you different options for the type of pain you are having or what activity you are needing to recovery from, such as jogging. The app will prompt you to turn on the Theragun. After this, there is a brief pause where it shows you were to place it and in which direction to move it. If you look quickly enough it also shows you which tip to use and which grip to hold with. This is a great start, particularly for those less experienced, but it would be better if the app started with a full screen showing the location on your body and movement so you could see it better as well as a graphic of the particular tip to use as well as the best grip to hold with. Then once you tap ok it should proceed with treatment. It would also be helpful if in between changing positions or sides it paused, prompted you where to go next, and then let you choose the next position. Instead it just rushes though the different positions. Initially the only prompt you received was the phone, which you are likely not holding, would vibrate but recently a firmware upgrade added a studder vibration when it is time to move. This is a great first step but unless you a professional, who would not need the app in the first place, and automatic pause to read the screen would be helpful. It’s still a nice touch but you can tell Theragun was originally targeted at professionals. Hopefully with time they will refine the process for the less initiated. It would also be nice to see all the extra treatments on their YouTube channel added to the app as well. The app doesn’t seem to have a coach for certain hip issues but their YouTube channel as a tutorial specifically covering it. The underdog in this is having Bluetooth connections allows firmware updates. It sounds unneeded but the additional of the studder vibration for changes has already show shut a feature is helpful in adding value. Another nice feature for those less experience is the pressure indicator. While using the app, it will show dark gray with too little pressure, blue with ideal pressure, and red with excessive pressure. This comes in hand because the included graph is hard to reach at times because the power of the percussion causes your eyes to vibrate as well. An improvement could be made here as well because with excessive pressure it shuts off immediately instead of giving maybe a vibration warning which would allow to adjust and continue instead of thinking the unit died and having to unpause the app. This issue has cropped up on occasion and the device will shut off in the middle of treatment when switching between areas without being triggered by the excessive force shutdown. It has been with a fully charged battery. It hasn’t happened enough times to warrant concern although it is still worth mentioning. Performance One thing Theragun seems to have plenty of is power. Just one power level bar showing and you can get deep into the muscle but if bump the power bar to light up all 5 leds you have enough power and speed to rattle your eyes and teeth. Although not officially recommended for this purpose, the power is even enough that during a back massage it can effectively help you clear out chest congestion as your entire body cavity feels the effects. This force might also means as you treat one area, the pressure helps you realize you had another trouble spot that needs attention. The stall force is well above what most people need. If you use the app it will turn the unit off, but you operate it directly you can push it into your leg with likely more force than is healthy without any signs of stalling. A surprise change from older Theragun devices is the noise level. You can still hear it, but instead of sounding like a power tool it’s more of a low hum. In fact, the motor noise is less noticeable than the rattle that happens if you put the device in certain positions on your body. It’s not apparent if the rattle sound is normal, maybe because the changeable tips, or a defect in this unit but it has an occasional plastic rattle when used on certain parts of the body. The operation of the motor feels very solid so even if it is a defect it isn’t one that would cause problems with operation. That said, at the loudest you can still comfortably carry on a conversation. Final Thoughts Besides what seem like minor issues making a professional grade device more available to the average fitness enthusiast, the Theragun Prime seems well suited for active types whose regular job doesn’t isn’t in fitness. If you either have a lifetime of ailments hindering your performance or are a younger athlete needing to keep inflammation under control the Theragun Prime can really help. It is good recovery tool for those who have want some of the functionality of the professionals in a simpler, more affordable package. If Theragun continues to refine the software and firmware, the Theragun Prime could prove to be even more of a value.

Very good, but longevity concerns
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Percussion type massagers have come a long way since their inception many years ago. Over the years, I have owned several different massagers, but none with the feature set the current models provide. In our current tech world, bluetooth technology rules the market for gadgets and this is no exception. PROS You don’t need to have an active lifestyle to enjoy using this product. You only need to have the sore muscles to pulverize. Using the word pulverize may sound scary, but that is exactly what these new massagers do, only very gently. Where older percussion type massagers would normally hurt if you get near bony areas, this one actually feels nice. The attachments that massage you are actually a semi-soft foam, so there is no discomfort. Even using it to travel over the spine, elbow, knee, etc., works extremely well. That said, if you apply too much pressure to your high neck area, this thing will rattle your teeth! You don’t need to apply much pressure when using this, as it does the work for you. Just keep a semi consistent light pressure and enjoy. Some of my other massagers would jump/bounce around with inconsistent pressure, but those had hard plastic attachments. The semi soft antimicrobial attachments included with the Theragun, do their job without the unnecessary bouncing around. There are five speeds that are noted by the five LED bars on the handle. These range from a slower pounding to buzzing like a bee. I find myself using the slowest speed most often, but that is subjective of course. The ergonomics of the unit (triangle shape) is also well thought out, enabling you to effectively provide self therapy on any area that needs it, including the middle of your back. I find myself watching movies and using this at the same time with ease. Which leads me to the sound. It is IMO very quiet. Quiet enough to have conversations without speaking loudly, and definitely quiet enough to watch TV. The app and Bluetooth setup was quick and easy with my Note 10 plus. I also find the app very intuitive and easy to use. There are various routines that guide/coach you through massaging effectively. These include quick video directions on how to get the most out of the massager for any part of your body that is in need. There is even an ailments section that highlights ways to effectively help you target specific areas through helpful videos. All in all, it's a deep and well put together app that has a LOT of great features to help you heal. CONS For the first several minutes the unit was SO quiet and felt really solid. Unfortunately mine developed a rattle sound inside the main round motor area during the very first session. It hasn’t affected its use or broken down yet, but it is concerning that it happened so quickly. I even removed the attachment and turned it on to see if that was causing it, but it was not. Another thing I found was that the metal rod that holds the attachment gets quite hot after using it for 10 minutes or so. This is to be expected considering how fast it is going, so that is of no surprise. The battery life seems fair. I find that one of the three battery bars is depleted after a 10-15 minute session leading me to believe that it won’t meet the 120 minute advertised battery time. That said, the battery works well enough to do a full body session without running out and that is all I need it for. For the price, I would expect a soft molded zipper case to be included for travel, but there is only a soft velvety bag included. CONCLUSION All in all, this is a really feature packed and comfortable therapeutic massage tool. The handle ergonomics and app are wonderful. The attachments are comfortable and not made of some really hard plastic. Ultimately, this is a great tool for muscle therapy and as this technology keeps getting better and these get more effective and comfortable to use, I will always try to keep one handy. In conclusion, make sure you register your warranty, or even better, purchase an extended coverage plan. The rattle that developed in my copy so quickly is very concerning for longevity. That said, it hasn’t failed me yet.

Intense Massage....Maybe Too Intense?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I work in an industrial setting 10+ hours each day walking, kneeling, crawling, and contorting myself to get in or under machines. I have the expected aches and pains as a result and tried a chiropractor a year or two back but wasn’t impressed as the pain didn’t seem to lessen and the procedures were uncomfortable to painful. When I saw the Thereagun Prime unit I thought it would be a stop gap at the least, something I could use after a long day to ease the pain in my back, neck, legs, etc. Inside the box is the gun with default head attachment (round dome), a charger, a pointy head, a shorter round head, a wider round head, and a cloth/velvet bag to store the gun and attachments. The gun will last nearly two hours on a charge according to the box but I usually get done after 15 minutes or so and just charge between uses. This is because the speeds go from intense to tenderizer, there are five of them and none are what I would call gentle. This is designed to work your deep tissue and it will pound the aches from you! While you can take it out and turn it on right away to begin working yourself over the product seems to be designed around downloading their app and following a diagram how to hold and move the massage gun. You can pick from a menu what is bothering you (carpal tunnel, Tech Neck, Jet Lag, Sciatica, etc.) and follow a series of massages to give yourself to help ease pains or cramps. Alternately you can pick a body region to work on just that or tie it into your daily workout by selecting post yoga, stairs, strength training, etc. massages to ease you down. You can set a routine so you can avoid menus and just do the massages you add to your “playlist”, or so it seems I didn’t get into this much. Whatever you pick it will show a diagram of the area to work and where to begin and finish (moving in a sweeping or back and forth motion) as well as tell you which tip to use and how to hold the gun. The app will time you and tells you if you’re pressing too hard or not enough. For me this is a neat thing to have around and use when I get sore but it’s a little more intense than I really enjoy. For example on the hand exercises they advise you to use the pointy tip and work from the center of your hand up each finger and not only is that difficult but it hurts pressing as much as it tells you to. My wife took it away from me after a couple days and loves it, it’s been an excellent treatment between her chiropractor appointments and she’s downloaded the app and set it to her profile. While I complain about it being too intense she says its great and feels wonderful….maybe I’m too much of a baby for it. To me the biggest feature they advertise and actually fulfill is the noise it makes when using it. To me it was akin to a handheld blender we use for hot chocolate in the winter, it’s loud enough to notice when you’re next to it but nobody next door or even in the other room will know you’re using it. I would recommend this for anyone who is really into the body therapy or chiropractic mindset but give it a pass if you’re just a sore maintenance tech looking to unwind after a day of turning torque wrenches.

Great Treatment For Your Whole Body!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rode a bicycle for about 100 miles over three days before getting the massager to make sure my legs really sore so I could put the massager to the test. I was blown away by the immediate relief the Theragun Prime gave my body. Before going out for a jog the next day my legs were sore and my quads and calves were very tight so I used the Theragun on the lowest setting with the pointy attachment to work on my quads and calves and my legs felt refreshed, so much so that later on that day I put up my fastest 5k time of the year it really was eye opening to see how much of an impact a device like this can have on your performance and health. The Theragun Prime came masterfully packaged with everything you need to get started with 4 attachments, a charger and an instruction booklet. I would suggest that anyone that gets this to start using the Theragun by syncing it to the smartphone app first! The intuitive app guides you through the different massage routines and will automatically start and stop the gun based on those routines. You just move the gun from point to point as laid out on the app and you can adjust the speed if it's too much for you to handle. Using the Therabody app also gets you used to how much pressure you have to apply with the Theragun as it gives an indicator if the pressure is too much or too little, this helps you know the right amount of pressure for the times you may not be using the app. Now for the performance and sound of the Theragun. There are five different speed settings and I've found even the lowest speed to be adequate most of the time, I wish there was an even slower setting for the times that you're really sore. The sound put out by the Theragun Prime was not loud to me at all. I would compare the sound of the massager to that of a small electric hand mixer or a toy radio controlled car. I have had the Theragun G3Pro used on me in the past and that one was louder to me and sounded more like a blender, so they've made some nice progress in bringing the noise levels down. This is really a life changing device that you can use to bring relief to yourself and others in just a few minutes. Also if you want to see something really cool you can record your muscles getting activated and moving if you record your massage in slow motion. I definitely recommend the Theragun Prime for your whole body massage treatment and have been happily using it every day since I got it.

Good, but overpriced product
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Besides all of the features already highlighted on the product page, here are some notes gathered from personal experience with the product. I do not discuss every aspect of the product; see other reviews if you want insight into battery life, the attachments, or the Bluetooth/app feature. The good: High-powered. In comparison to the Hypervolt and Sportneer Elite D9 (Amazon), the Theragun outdoes them both (and many others, for that matter) in terms of power, and this could mean that it is essentially a more effective device - it's up to you to research and investigate the science behind all of that. It's not uncommon to hear that the Theragun is "too intense"; it certainly can be, but you always have the option to apply less pressure manually. Sometimes with other massage guns, I find myself yearning for that extra ounce of power that the Theragun delivers. But this need or desire will vary from person to person based on preference, purpose of use, etc. Regarding the Theragun's handle, I believe it is superior for its ergonomic design, and as far as I'm aware, is the only massage gun to feature such a handle, at least among the major competitor brands. Needless to say, it allows for better handling and greater flexibility of use. The bad: The price - normally $299 for this particular model. I purchased it on sale for $225 and got a free carrying case with the purchase as part of a promotion ($50 value); otherwise I could not justify paying over $300 for it, or any other massage gun. Additionally, the noise level can be concerning to some users, at least under certain circumstances. For example, if you live in an apartment and choose to use the Gun in the evening hours, be aware that the noise and vibration will likely be an issue for your neighbors. I attempted this and though I did not receive any complaints for the brief minute or two that I had it running, I decided to stop it altogether to avoid potentially disturbing any neighbors. Of course this may not be a deal breaker to many other people; maybe you don't have neighbors in your immediate surrounding who would be affected; maybe you'll be using this during normal hours throughout the day, perhaps in more appropriate settings like at a gym or outdoors. I'm simply pointing out and confirming that it is indeed a considerably louder machine for those whom this point concerns. The overall quality and ease of use is certainly good, at least in my limited experience with it so far. If I am to be particular, I do find the buttons to be lacking just a bit as far as feedback/responsiveness goes which does take away a bit from the ease of use; however, once again the welcomed ergonomic design makes up for that part. In terms of value, unless I'm overlooking certain factors, I remain of the belief that the Theragun is overpriced at regular price. At the very least the carrying case should be included with every model, if they want to charge a premium for their product.

Odd shaped massage device that works wonders.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Theragun - Prime Handheld Percussive Massage Device - Black Summary: A substantial hand-held massage device that provides relief to tired and knotty muscles. Pros: - The Theragun Handheld is an interesting shape. Not bulky and comfortable to wield at various angles. - The unit comes with several types of percussive "heads" and a carrying bag. - There are several intensities which can be used to adjust your experience. - If FIRM pressure is applied to the messaged area, then the noise of the device seems reasonable for one of its size and capability. Cons: - The unit comes with a proprietary charger. Not-a-fan. Thankfully, chargers all seem to be made in the same place and possibly company, so finding a replacement laying around at home is likely. I would preferred the more ubiquitous USB, a stand, or even inductive charging. - The carrying bag isn't all that useful - unless you have a preference for a specific head attachment; in that case, its fine. I would have preferred a box that could more securely store the individual heads. - If the pressure applied to the message area is light or just hovering (i.e. non-constant contact with body), the device seems to emit significantly more noise. Again, it may be designed to expect resistence and more firm contact and noise is only something to consider. Use: I recently executed an interstate move. It was the perfect timing for this theraputic massage gun. My muscles were sore and achy in ways I had forgotten. It was the first time I and my family performed a move in its entirety including the 1000+ mile drive in a bouncy as heck truck! This device worked wonders around my neck, lower back, and every other place that was aching and/or experiencing muscle tension. I am partial to a specific head attachment, but I am sure the others will find their uses. Note: I have an electrical muscle stimulator that I use for simulated massages. I liked it. But it was unwieldy, the sticky pads were hard to keep clean/reuse, and didn't work as effectively as this Theragun which applies physical pressure to the affected areas. I'm looking forward to regular use of this device.

Feels So Good!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Theragun is amazing! I don't normally like being massaged, but I love using this gun. It's a little noisy, but nothing that should deter you from buying it. The charge lasts for a good amount of time and it charges quickly. 5 speeds, but I like the first speed the best. If I could change anything about it, I would have one softer speed, but this is still a great tool!

Life Changing Relief
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing has changed my life. I have major hip/SI joint issues… which causes my upper leg/hip/butt/lower back muscles to tense up a lot. I went to so much physical therapy and they tried everything to help get my Piriformis muscle to relax… heat ultrasound, massage, stretches, etc. The only thing that finally worked was dry needling.… but after six months it was irritating me again… hard as a rock. This thing is powerful enough to really get in there and give relief. It’s not feasible for me to go to physical therapy all the time for dry needling. This has prevented any further issues, and has really changed my quality of life for the better…. It gives me significant relief. I’ve had this for almost a year and it still works as good as the day I bought it. I use it at least once per week on average. NOTE: The different settings really just change the speed. You control the pressure by how hard you push, or don’t push. So, as far as power… don’t be worried about it pushing too hard…. You control that. The only thing I would change is the handle…. I can reach almost all areas, but a longer handle would make it easier and more comfortable to reach certain areas (center of the back, for example). It’s important to note that I’ve never used any other massage guns. However, my sister used this one of mine, and then purchased a much cheaper one (different brand) and said it didn’t even compare. This thing gets it done!

Great for loosening tight/sore muscles
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical about this device, especially for the price. Took a chance when it was 100$ off on sale and can type that this needs to be in everyones home. This does a great job of doing as advertised. Loosens everything even near the joints with no pain. Mainly use on lowest setting with pictured attachment. Sound is not too loud, lubricant from motor slides down the attachment shaft some, light smell from the motor working. Nothing major to complain about during operation.

Excellent Percussive Message Gun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really great mssage gun with lots of power. It comes with four different tips that easily lock secury and remove easily. It is chargeable and portable so I take it with me everywhere. The charge holds suprisingly longer than I ever expected. This is a quality message gun that so far has worked excellently for me. I highly recommend it. There is one con at first use that I experienced, it may realease some blue grease from the tip area, so I recommend to run the messager in the up position for a while at the very first use as it breaks in. After this it should be fine with no more issues. Since its a very powerful tool I didnt deduct a star because it only happened initially and some tools usually require some prep.

A little pricey but very nice
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This certainly does what it says on the box. It is well constructed, extremely powerful, and just all around very nice. The cons I will give it are: 1. I think it's a bit overpriced considering what the competition charges. 2. The app is gimmicky. 3. It's hard to use in some areas by yourself. I would be more forgiving of this fact if the more (astronomically) expensive version did not have an adjustable head to accommodate for this AND include more attachments. My complaint here is, for this kind of money, It kind of suffers from being the "middle product line" - It's expensive, but it's annoying that you would really like to have those features on the better one but there is just NO WAY you would spend that much on it. Justifying the price on this one is hard enough. Overall, I would still recommend it if you are willing to spend the cash and you can't justify buying the top of the line. It will certainly be stronger, and very likely last longer than cheaper products.

Worth trying to making a relationship work...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Listen, I bought this for a fella I was dating - aaaaand we broke up the same day I gave it to him. Now, I’m not saying the TheraGun was to blame, but it’s highly likely he realized he didn’t need to deal with an actual girlfriend when he had this bad boy to work out all of his issues. (Story above is totally true, BTW!) Quips aside - this thing is great. And since we really did break up and I don’t get the benefit of this thing (yep, it was a selfish gift!) I have since bought one for myself too. Am now broke. But the knots in my back are gone, so there’s that.

Great Massager
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had little to no faith in this massage gun and all of its claims but decided to give it a shot as the family was looking for a massager of sorts. This Theragun far exceeded our expectations and has worked fantastic, the massage device really has improved our muscles and aches and pains. The attachments work great and work for their intended purpose. The one piece of feedback I have is that all the settings are fairly strong, we all would have liked at least one lighter setting. No other concerns or problems otherwise.

Good Vibrations
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Theragun massager is quite a ride. It doesn't make me sore from it's rapid thumping motion, and helped quite a bit the other day when I did get sore from a day of removing brick edging from a friend's yard. I used it across my neck/arms/lower back. It's an odd sensation from typical vibration massagers. It gets a much deeper muscle penetration than many other basic massagers I've tried in the past. It is really a try it, and you'll buy it device. And once you have used a Theragun, you will want a Theragun. It's very simple to use while watching TV in the evening. While it's not completely silent. It's not much louder than the first setting on any other orbital machine(stand mixer, or sewing machine on slow for example), just a decent hum. And while it is easy to use on one's self. A spouse or second set of hands really aid in getting to many spots most can't easily reach on their own. While it comes with a cloth bag(a padded case would have been nice). On the plus side, it does provide an easy travel/storage option for the charger and the 3 additional heads(smaller soft head, small stiff head, and soft pinpoint head). There is also an app, but I am not sure it works quite right(more testing needed). And at the time I wrote this, I think the company was changing the name. The app is under Therabody in the app store.

Works well :)
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exactly what my boyfriend needed for his soreness! I have given him many massages with my hands after he trains martial arts. This honestly gives my hands a break and makes it easier for me AND it helps him work out the knots more thoroughly. It's a little loud, but gets the job done! I like all the different heads so you can alternate as desired. I don't know if there's a long term impact since we don't use it that consistently, but love a good massage with the Theragun.

Easy to hold. Long lasting charge. I like it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best thing about it is that it is ray to hold and handle even for someone like my mom that has bad arthritis. The vibrations when you hold it are not bad as you would expect. So far charge lasts quite a while. Haven't used any other massage heads as the one or comes with attached works well. The triangle grip makes it pretty easy to hold anywhere and massage almost any place you need to reach.
I would recommend this to a friend
