Being a thermo-electric cooler, it is quiet, only occasionally can the fan be heard when everything in the house is quiet. The only downside, which all thermo-electric coolers suffer from is the available temperature differential between the interior and ambient air is more limited than for a cooler that uses a compressor. It would be nice if the door was reversible, but with the controls in the door that would complicate the build quite a bit.

I initially wanted to purchase a slightly smaller-capacity cuisinart wine fridge, but I could not purchase it for reasons regarding materials in that particular model that could not be shipped to California. This wine fridge was my second choice, but I was pleasantly surprised how quiet, sleek, and how well it kept the set temperature. Highly recommend!

My 16 bottle SPT wine cooler was shipped within 24 hours from when I first put in the order, and it was delivered right on time. When the cooler arrived I thought I had the wrong measurements because the box was much bigger than I had imagined. To my pleasant surprise the cooler was the correct size, but it was packed so well it needed the bigger box for all the packing material. Once I took the cooler out I could immediately tell the quality of materials; it was well constructed and the unit looked handsome. It took almost no time for the cooler to reach the temperature I set and has kept the setting constant since. What I am most pleased about is how quiet it is. Every so often I have to put my ear to the unit to make sure it's running. This is a great first wine cooler for any wine enthusiast.
