What Peter Jackson and his team did is truly remarkable. Not only is the technical wizardry amazing, but it is personalized and like being there. As a Vietnam veteran I appreciated the humanness of this film. This is the standard for updating old archival films.

Technology brings history to life. Superb portrait of life on the front in WWI, "The Great War." Peter Jackson's commentary on the making of the film s almost as good as the main feature.

This should be required viewing for everyone. Film choked me up. I cried over how young these boys were. The color put into the film does justice for the filming. Thanks Peter Jackson!

Peter Jackson's work on They Shall Not Grow Old is astonishing. Cleaning up the footage and adding color are a few of the many things he does well with this.

First of all this movie has some extremely haunting moments but it does an amazing job of showing exactly what some of these men went through during world war 1.

This movie was OK, and the archival footage was good. It had a lot of repetition throughout the movie - kind of like watching a show on TV that repeats half of the information you just watched after a commercial break. All in all, it is probably 45 minutes of actual movie footage with another 45 minutes of repeats and audio dubbing. Not what I expected from the reviews I read online.

This is a must watch. The detail they put into remastering those old war films is incredible. The story is amazing. Please watch this film!

This is an amazing documentary that spans pre WWI fervor of young men looking forward to chivalry and battle, to the horrors trench and mechanized warfare to the sober aftermath of European powers gone made over entangling treaties. The restoration of original film is nothing less than masterful. Stick around for Peter Jackson's commentary of how the film was made. Understanding the respect, diligence and the lengths of getting the story and the film details correct is awe inspiring. A superb film produced by a world class film maker.

A first class documentary film of the horrors and general life experiences of the British and Commonwealth forces in France during the Great War. Naration is by men who were there during the war. It gives great insight into the motivation and values of those who experienced the futility of war.Required viewing for all historians and contemporary politicians who think going to war is "fun " and without short and long term consequences.

Ok, so the documentary is great but I'll be a little nit-picky in that this came with the Blu-ray and stanadard DVD. No digital copy inside or listed on the case, was disappoited by this as I was going to keep the digital file for my library and give the Blu-ray to my father. Disappointed in that.
