The best Thor film

Thor: Ragnarok is the film that was needed to rejuvenate the Thor franchise. This is probably the best Hemsworth has been at Thor since The Avengers. He's incredibly focused and serious when needed but also gets to show off his excellent comedic timing. Ruffalo's Hulk and Thompson's Valkyrie really help add to the comedy and action scenes. Loki's actions gives him another dimension to an already complex character. You also have to love Goldblum being as absurd as you'd expect him to be. Taika Waititi was probably the best choice to move the Thor franchise in a new direction and his voice work for Korg was hilarious. I only wish they'd shown more of Blanchett's Hela since she was a great villain

Loved this movie, even with the bits of humor and very dynamic dramatic plot. A great lead-in to the superb and fantastic "Avengers: Infinity War"!

Personally I would put this one up there with the first Ironman and the first Avengers movies. This movie is funny and has a lot of great scenes that as a fan of the comics you want to see. Is it perfect? No, does it always make 100% perfect sense even? No. Is it a great time and possibly the closest we're going to get to a Planet Hulk movie? Yes! If this movie was just about Thor it would not have been even half as good. The Hulk makes this movie! The other support characters are great, and if this movie suffers in any way it's the title. It makes you think it's just going to be another Thor movie. Which are good, but not great. Anyway, to sum up, it's the bomb! Buy it, watch it, love it!

This movie has it all: action, comedy and a great cast. I've watched it several times. All your favorites: Thor, Hulk, Valakyrie and Loki.

Thor: Ragnarok is by far the greatest Thor film ever produced -- and, in my opinion, it easily ranks in the Top 3 best Marvel films as well. The casting of Cate Blanchett and Tessa Thompson as Hela and "Valkyrie" was absolutely spot-on, and of course seeing Jeff Goldblum as The Grandmaster was a delightful treat. Under Taika Waititi's direction, Thor: Ragnarok was a breath of fresh air in a series of Marvel films that, in my mind, have gotten progressively darker and "edgier" just for the sake of being dark and edgy. Did it have its moments of weakness here and there? Sure! But all in all, it's just an incredible movie, and it has quickly become one of my favorites.

HDR you ready for 4K goodness!

Okay, movie aside, which is entertaining in its own right, 4K with HDR brings it to a whole nother level. The images were so vivid and defined that I began to wonder about the realisticness of the images. Dark scenes were defined well enough so that even with the brightness on my TV set as low as it could go, you could still see each intimate detail.
While it does not change my rating of 5 stars for this, there is one thing I feel I have to mention, with 4K and HDR it is very easy to see which scenes are computer generated or not. While at 1080p the scenes seem to flow without much of a change, now there was a noticeable difference to all who were watching with me.

Honestly Marvel steelbooks needs better art.

The steelbook itself needs work. This is why 4 stars. Was disappointing to see that boring back art. Hulk should have been on the back in bright Hulk green to match the front and follow the theme of the movie. I love steelbooks with two different colors on the front and back. Makes the spine pop and draws the eye. The inside art should have been something with Hela and Odin on it. Maybe the art from the dome inside the throne room. How bout Loki or the Valkyrie? Show them some love.
I wait to watch movies at home and not in the theater cause I got a nice setup and anxiety. So this movie was a long wait for me. I liked the movie just fine. Its a comic book in movie form and has a lot of comedy. It has the pace of a quirky comic book. It has the art style of a early age comic book. It is NOT like the other two Thor movies which are a more serious and brooding. It is a change of pace and I liked it.
Its great on 4k w HDR and the colors are intense. The cgi however is a tad bit off putting cause you can tell when there is green screen which is pretty much every scene. I messed with my tv settings too and I got a Sony Bravia XBR X900E TV.
Small things really, nit picky stuff. I appreciated the movie, it was fun I will enjoy watching it again and thats what matters. Im excited for the Infinity War and my Black Panther steelbook!

First off... I am a "huge" fan of the superhero movie genre. Particularly the Marvel superhero movies. This movie was "off the beaten path" a bit. It relied a lot on humor. But, that's an OK thing.... it had a lot of action and a great storyline. I don't watch Marvel superhero movies to be "enlightened" or to elicit some "powerful emotional response". I watched them to be entertained - and, this movie is very entertaining. I usually like the first movie of any character - the best. I liked Ironman 1, and Captain America 1, and still Thor 1 - the best. But, in my opinion, this Thor movie is "better" than the 2nd Thor movie "The Dark World". It is just plain FUN!

Marvel in general does a good to excellent job on all their superhero movies. I love Thor. From childhood reading the comics to now and his treatment in the movies I am still a big fan. However, this movie was less a strict Thor movie and more a lighter hearted general Guardian of the Galaxy or other character type of movie. Why do I say this? Thor is epic!! The scope of his life and stories is supposed to be on the level of Gods!! As a result, I feel a certain weightiness should be evident in all his movies. Humor is great but gags suggesting he's clumsy, or not as strong as a Valkyrie I believe play to if not pander to a "girl power" agenda in Hollywood and the Country in general that does not serve the character as well as possible. I love strong female characters. But in order for a woman to be strong does a man have to be weak or weaker, than he has historically been? Having said the above I enjoyed the film but having Thor screaming in a chair after what amounted to a light show, when he has fought Trolls, Gods, Demons, and other epic individuals, didn't make sense for the character for me. It detracted, for the sake of humor, from what could have been a more epic film. In short, too many attempts at humor, at the expense of the weight of the film and the more gritty/grandeur history of the character.

This Blu-Ray edition simply offers the movie in better clarity than DVD. That is the only advantage of this over the DVD Special Edition release, which was loaded with behind-the-scenes bits. I know a lot of people don't bother with home video disc extra features, and I usually only watch those once, but this does not even have a menu or chapters. Most Mill Creek Direct produced discs are cheaply produced, without proper menus and with poor packaging. Still, if this is priced really low and you want to watch the movie with better clarity, it serves that purpose.

"Thor: Ragnarok" is another phenomenal installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It appears that Marvel can do no wrong when it comes to their movies. This is no exception as Thor finds himself in a brand new environment following the death of his father, Odin, and the destruction of his hammer, Mjinor. With the help of Valkyrie, Hulk and his brother, Loki, Thor must find a way out of his predicament to save Asgard from his sister, Hel. With great performances and writing, this is a true recommendation for any Marvel or comic book fans.
