I still remember seeing this movie on the big screen, I loved it then and I love it now, Frustrated that Those Magnificent Men never seemed to make it to TV, I decided that it was time to get my own copy. The movie plot is not great, in fact it's predictable. What makes this movie is the performances of the minor characters that give the movie some depth. Benny Hill as the Fire Brigade chief is a gem. The rivalry between the French and German teams is hilarious. And of course, there are the main stars, the airplanes. Many of them were in fact based on period machines and it's interesting seeing the different directions that flight was taking in its infancy. The DVD includes a photo montage feature talking about the planes, and their construction. Ordering was painless and shipping was surprisingly quick, the DVD showed up before the promised date.

I thought that I was ordering a bluray to replace my DVD copy. Need to read the ad better.

I grew up watching this humorous movie about an air race featuring many types of planes representing many countries, set in pre-ww11 England. Starring Stuart Whitman. Just a good old-fashioned, clean movie.
