Pedro Almodóvar is a director who seems tailor made for the Criterion Collection. Strange it took his infamously sweet Stockholm Syndrome-esque romp "Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!" for that to finally happen, but better late than never. A sweetly strange love story featuring great performances and some unforgettable moments (for different reasons), "Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!" is beautifully restored by the good people at Criterion and given, as all movies should get, a great collection of extras that give you some deep insight into the filmmaking process and the joy and pain that comes from it.

Almodovar fans are in for a treat, and this might be a good sign you can retire the Viva Pedro dvd boxed set (that's out of print now). Criterion has released their fir Almodovar film, and if you're a fan of the director, it's well worth picking up. Let's hope it's the first of many to come...

Almodovar found something unique and special with the performances of the two leads in this film. It's beautifully shot and incredibly well-acted. Highly recommended for fans of great cinema!
