    Best Tiger yet!

I've played virtually every Tiger game over the years and I'm convinced this is the best one yet. The past couple of years, the sensitivity of the analog stick has been a little too twitchy in my opinion. My wife stopped playing the game due to the difficulty in hitting a straight shot. Tiger 09 has brought the series back with great control. It's much easier to hit generally straight shots even as your player is just beginning with lower skills. They have managed to accomplish this without making the game too easy. It still takes great touch on approach shots and putting to score well. Another plus is the exotic course locations that have been included. Wolf Creek must be played to be believed. Generally fast load times are a plus also. They have completely new commentators this year to freshen things up for those of us tired of hearing the same lines over and over again. If you love video game golf, you will love Tiger 09!

Superb Addition to the Tiger Woods Franchise

EA Sports have put together a very exciting and memorable golfing simulation experience with Tiger Woods 09. It's remarkable on how much effort, polish, and technical work EA has put into this release. Unlike previous incarnations of Tiger Woods, this game really assembles a user-friendly design, which anyone in the family can get into and enjoy. The positives far outweigh the negatives. The best quality of Tiger Woods 09 is the learning curve. My wife and son have always complained about games being too complex for them and so this was a welcomed release in our home. Not only are the control schemes easy to manage, but also the non-intrusive character skill lessons are easy to understand and follow through. Rarely did my family and I get bored with this as each skill developed increases your golfers power, short game, accuracy, and putting skills. The graphics are right on the mark and much detail and care was put into these courses. Everything from the sand traps, water effects, and ambiance of the course just feels inviting. Now and then I would experience some jagged pixels but nothing to be too negative about. Gameplay is both entertaining and memorable while moving at a great pace mixing brain power with strategy. I really enjoyed customizing my character, earning more courses through the Tiger Challenges, and earning money to spend in the pro shop. Tiger Woods 09 also carries quite a robust multiplayer platform that uses simultaneous play which allows you to move through the course with other players without having to wait for their shot. So what could have took half a day with multiple people now takes an hour or two. This addition gives the game a well-rounded selling appeal that is truly worth the price tag. The only disappointment I have with '09 is that I simply wanted more courses. Call me greedy, but I just crave more courses! Also, I still can't stand the in-game commentary. Overall, Tiger Woods '09 is worth your time and hard earned money. Parents listen up! If you have children and want them to play a game that allows them to use their brain and make strategic decisions, consider this! This is easy enough for them to learn and it's interesting to watch them learn a bit about golf. This is a great family game and one franchise that I will be purchasing as the years roll by.

    Not the Best TW game

TW 2009 brings cool graphics and an improved swing with the joystick or analog swing. More golf courses,a practice golf range and superb gameface photo. The bad of all this is that the good things from TW 2008 were taken out, just to dedicate space for a boring Hank Haney, Tiger's coach. The drills are boring with little help. TW 2008 drills were better with more variety. The putting swing has been changed as well, with little shot of confidence. The pro-shop of TW 2008 was a lot of fun but this year's pro-shop has little or no value at all. TW pga tour is by far the best golf game out there, but if you're planning to buy a TW PGA Tour, I'll recommend you to buy TW PGA Tour 2008, cuase it's still the best TW PGA game.

Ok, well I am one of those random gamers that takes a break from the games for a while then comes back to see what is going on. Well I have to say that I feel that this is one of the better Tiger Woods that has come out in the last couple of years. I loved the 05' one and that is what got me hooked on it. This version has a lot of the characteristics of the 05' but also has some improvements. Its not to touchy and it does allow for a little bit of error because we all know how we can get when we get engrossed in the game. The on-line play is great and the daily tournaments are very fun. I would have to recommed this to the people that loved Tiger Woods in the beginning and then felt that they were just making it to difficult or to technical. If your like me and not looking for the precision needed in the N.A.S.A program then you will love this game. Go and get it and have some fun.

    Better than the last two

I own 2007 but passed on 08 because of the online problems. But they definitely fixed all the issues that this series was known for. I was actually able to get online and play a game with no problems at all. The dynamic skill system makes every shot really mean more. And the pop up challenges that you receive in the single player game from Gamernet are great.

A step towards a true golfing simulation

I wrote a review for TW08 on this sight last year complaining about the franchise being too cartoon-like in the career mode with having to buy "Pop's goofy knickers" in the pro shop to get better. I asked for the career mode to include practice and coaching to get better instead of strange clothes, and I must not have been alone because that is exactly what they did this year. In this years TW's you are teamed up with legendary golf coach Hank Haney to work on your game. Sure, you can still find some fun items to purchase in the pro shop, but most of your improved ratings comes from practicing what your coach says you need improving on. Like most first years for a new idea, this has some improvements that will need to be made. For example, when I struggle on a drill and finaly get it right the drill is over and I get my improved rating. But actualy, I would rather keep practicing that shot after getting it right to keep honing in my shot-making skills, because you are going to need it out on the course in 09! The reason the practice is so important this year is that the new equipment modeling is outstanding. As a golfer, I am familiar with all of this equipment and how it plays on the course, and just like real life, that new-fangled driver might make your drives longer, or just longer out-of-bounds. The brands and makes of equipment mimick what they do for your game in real life remarkably well. You will have to refine your game before you can step up to the new equipment however, but making the perfect launch with that new driver would be very difficult without the new visual swing meeter. The meeter shows you both your back swing and your swing, and making an adjustment mid-swing may save your round, or even let you bail out on a bad back swing just like in real golf. Overll, this is a great new direction for the Tiger Woods series, and I look forward to seeing the direction they go with in the future. My requests from EA going forward is to make practice actualy practice as well as more fun than just a chore, to open up all clothing options (at least at the completion of career mode) so that you can dress your online self in clothes that you would actualy wear instead of a bunny suit for online play, to make the pro shop more interactive (maybe an actual store you can walk around in) with help from a store clerck to help choose the right stuff for you as well as testing out the gear, an actual pairing for the PGA tour season events, and last but not least, to include some team competitions such as the Ryder Cup to create more fun playing options with the computer-generated versions of our favorite golfers we see play on Sundays. How great would it be to be teamed up with Tiger as a partner and actualy hear him say "Nice shot, kid!"

LOL. Actually the putting is not bad once you get used to trusting your own shot and not over correcting after you watch the preview cam. The game is loads of fun and the best part is you can play simutaneously even online. Great game as usual from Ea Golf.
