Loved the Doc., but label on package misleading...

The documentary and bonus material were all fabulous, and a fitting end to a grand era of Rush, and their fans. Was not disappointment with the disc to say the least. What I was disappointed in was the sticker on the package stating that "Only @ Best Buy" with more than an hour of never-before-seen archival concert footage, includes Rush Gumby Keychain. Yes, the Rush Gumby Keychain may be exclusive, but the over an hour of archival footage was not, due to it appears to be on all the releases, at least initially, wherever you purchase it. I did not see anything different on my copy than my friend's copy, that was purchased on Amazon. It could have been just me, but the way the sticker is presented, came across that there should have been more, just for those that purchased at Best Buy, when it was only really the Gumby. Just getting it out there that if you read the sticker, it may just be me, but it seemed to be a bit misleading. Otherwise, the material on the disc was still awesome in the end.

Affectionate Look at the End of a Touring Band

Rush toiled in the field of rock for nearly fouty years before gaining respect and it has finally caught up to the band. This documentary beautifully captures a band at the end of their road life, aged veterans admitting their frailty. It is not a concert film, but examines the band, roadies, managers as well as the rabid Rush fan base that has sustained the Canadian trio all this time.
Bitter sweet is the best description I can come up with. These three guys kept plugging away against all odds, not being cool until thier very unhipness became cool a few years ago. But Rush sets the bar very high, a hard rock trio playing three hours a night at the very top of thier skills. This film announces the end of that era.
We get to see the back stage drama as the band's last mammoth tour crossed the continent and the emotions begin to surge, both in the band and with the fans. Each member of the group gets to state thier case, and it is no surprise that Neil Peart is the one pulling the plug. An intensely private man who has suffered upspeakable tragedy and managed to overcome the devistating loss of his family, he also drums at a world class level. Neil has decided to go out on top instead of accepting diminishing returns.
This is a companion piece to the excellent "Beyond the Lighted Stage' and the technical aspects are excellent. As a bonus, around an hour of older concert footage from the 1990s is included. Overall, it is hard not to get emotional saying goodbye to old frineds, but they did it right - as they always did.

This wonderful and poignant documentary chronicling the final tour of Canada's greatest rock act is by turns fascinating and bittersweet. Narrated by actor and long-time Rush fan Paul Rudd, the film follows Alex, Neil and Geddy on their 40th Anniversary tour, which they claim will likely be their last. Between Alex's arthritis and Neil's aches and pains during their 3 hour shows, the virtuoso musicians and lifelong friends have earned their retirement, but it is not without some lament.
While the film is well executed, it is the band's friendship and candor that makes it so touching.
A must have for any Rush fan.

I didn't need to read reviews before purchasing the new rush blu ray because they guys kick some serious tail! When all else fails in life, and people screw you over left and right, you can always count on Geddy, Alex and Neil to guide you through those hard times with their killer licks and introspective, heartfelt, award winning lyrics. These guys also sport mean sports paraphernalia collections, golf chops, and some killer motor cycle riding skills. They also are not your typical rock stars and identify with the blue collar folks who just want to rock with a few cold ones after a long hard day. These guys were sent by God through the northern winds of Canada to rock your friggin world bro!

An incredible yet depressing farewell statement

The documentary itself is top notch, but so depressing for Rush fans as it plays like a final statement, maybe even as a wake, to the Holy Triumvirate. You can almost feel the depression setting in during the interviews as they talk about themselves in the past tense (well, maybe not Neil, who sounds understandably liberated), but it is a fitting tribute to the band that went out at their best. Even more emotional for me was the bonus content, Presto tour footage that looks like video screen feed and great audio, heretofore available via bootleg. This was my first Rush tour as a 16 year old and having this footage along with this tribute makes this a great buy for me.

First off I am a long time fan going back to the 70s. I was anxious to see this as a behind the scenes type of thing. It was that, but much more. The emotional response I had was surprising. It brought back so many memories of this band and how they impacted little facets of my life. And the overall feeling of "this is the end" was both humbling and reflective. In short if you are any sort of artist/performer, watch this. It will really demonstrate what impact you can have on people and more so, how being true to your craft is the most important aspect of what you do.

The Final Piece of the Collection?

Sad to say this may be the last release of a Rush tour. This isn't a concert film (buy R40 LIve) but a behind the scenes story of their last tour. It covers many of the people that were along for the ride with them during 40 years of tours and covers the fans as well. Neil provides the backstory to the impromptu photo that became the cover art. If you are a fan this is a bit sad to watch as it makes it all too clear that those of us that were lucky enough to catch one of those 34 dates, we truly saw history and a final performance by the greatest band ever.

Rush has been my favorite band since I was in high school and it's great to see all these new documentaries, books and merchandise coming out now...especially since it was so hard to come by back in my teenage to early 30's years.
Time Stand Still is a good doc. I like how it focuses on their last tour and their fans. Gives it a little more candid look at the band behind the scenes instead of being set up to be interviewed.
For me, there were some pacing issues. Great information but not all of it was necessarily anything I needed to know.
There is a way better documentary Beyond the Lighted Stage that swiftly goes over the career of the band. That's the one to watch if you have to choose. But overall, TSS is a very enjoyable documentary for hardcore Rush fans.

If you're a Rush fan, you absolutely have to watch this documentary. It gives some great insight into the thoughts and feelings of the band members as they went through the process of this "farewell tour" after 40 years as a band. As a diehard Rush fan for over 30 years, it was an emotional watch. There is some great concert footage included as well.

As with their previous documentary, the quality is great, the storylines interesting, and the subject continues to provide new content to keep it fresh. The same film/ production team returns, and the result is an enjoyable film that I've already watched twice. Highly recommended, and some really cool historic bonus content!

2015 started the countdown to a well-deserved break... or retirement of one of the most hard-working, dedicated bands in rock history. I was lucky to see the R40 tour when it came to town, and it has been the experience of a lifetime. Watching how it all came about, and the guys talking about it is just the cherry on top.

The final tour of one of the greatest bands in the world. Rush has always given their fan their all when performing live and this last tour was no exception. This tour featured songs from their past 40 years and it was awesome. A must have video for any true Rush fan or one that is getting started on being a Rush fan.

Warning! The PACKAGE is WEIRD on this one! It LOOKS LIKE A CD CASE. Cardboard box, with a CD jewel case inside with the Gumby keychain in there as well. It IS a BluRay disc so don't worry, but it does look weird. Mostly interviews so if you want a straight concert disc go with Rio or others.

I saw the "last" RUSH concert 4 times! We were AT the very last show in Los Angeles! It's just jaw dropping the amount of people and equipment and work that goes into setting up just ONE concert let alone a whole tour! And who knew that Neil was playing with such sore feet! RUSH ON!

Great DVD with many camera angles so you do not miss a thing!!! My only complaint is the CD size packaging? Why? To save money? It really makes the home collection out of place now with the standard size bluray packing and now the "mini" packaging...not a fan of this...

As a hard-core Rush fan, I’ll enjoy almost anything featuring the band. So I did enjoy this but the casual fan will probably become bored pretty quickly. There is way too much time spent on interviews with fans. Rewatching it is not nearly as enjoyable as Beyond the Lighted Stage. The inclusion of concert footage from the Presto tour was an odd choice since that era is their weakest. Why not include unreleased live footage from their BEST era, the late 70s and early 80s?

I have been a HUGE Rush fan ever since my junior high years in school. This DVD brought a tear to my eye. We all knew this day was going to come and yet I think we all hoped Geddy, Alex, and Neil would go on forever. I'd recommend this product to anyone who has enjoyed the music of Rush.
On a side note, I could have done without the constant focus on Jillian Maryonovich, creative director of RushCon, and also White House staffer and aide to US president Barack Obama.

If you got to see this in the theater like I did you knew you had to have this. Sad as it is that R40 was the last major tour it's still a great look back at how amazing it was and what Alex, Geddy & especially Neil went through.
